"Task force sweeps nightclubs and finds hideaway

A police task force descended on bars and nightclubs in central San José Friday night and discovered a hiding place where dancers and others used when police arrived.

The hiding place was in the Atlantis night club, the security ministry said. There officers found a hole in the floor covered with a wood top that housed two women and two men. One of the women was a Nicaraguan who is barred from entering the country. Police suspect that she entered illegally through the porous northern border.

A Venezuelan woman there was working as a dancer on a tourist visa, agents said.

One of the men was a Colombian refugee, and the second was illegally in the country. Agents also found that the bartender was the subject of a warrant for an allegation of sexually abusing a minor. He was detained.
The sweep was by the Fuerza Pública, The Unidad de Trata y Tráfico de Personals of the Judicial Investigating Organization, immigration police and San José municipal police.

Agents also went to VIP's Monaco, Nicole's, Bella Mansión and Alcázar.

A bartender at VIP's also was the subject of a warrant, agents said. He, too, was detained. The allegation is carrying a weapon illegally.

Agents said that a minor was found inside one of the night clubs apparently working as a prostitute. She was turned over to the Patronato Nacional de la Infancia, the Ch*ld welfare agency.

Police checked the identification of some 150 persons, they said. Some 95 percent were foreigners, and 50 of these were ordered to report to immigration, they said."

This is the scary part. Be careful out there guys, and watch out for yourself because many of the club/MP owners certainly don't give a phuck. If she seems young, pass.

I agree with what you are saying about being careful ANYWHERE!! But you seem to be implying that one is more likely to find an und***ge chica in a MP or Night club and less likely to find an und***ge chica in other places like Del Rey, NYB, SL etc. Actually you are probably correct in terms of SL since the instigation of the card system. BUT the others I call bull shit!!!! I have seen many many many und***ge chicas in both the REY and the NYB over the years. To say that the 'club/MP owners do not give a pluck is a broad assumption on your part!! The MPs and Night clubs are for the most part much more cautious because they have more to lose normally. They are suppose to do a through check to varify the age where as the NYB does nothing and the REY only does a half ass check of the card presented to the guard--many of those cards belong to a sister, or a cousin, or a neighbor!!! For instance a tall slinder 17 yo with long black hair getting in using the card of a short and blond 28 yo!

Point is; IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, ANYTIME!! AND WE MUST ALWAYS BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN WITH A CHICA THAT LOOKS 'YOUNG'!!

It is time for the semi-annual show of force where the police are ordered to shut down a few MPs and bars and make some headlines to prove what ever it is they are trying to prove.

The intensity should increase the closer it gets to Semana Santa which begins in earnest on Friday. Then it will be a race to the beach, trying to see who can get the most intoxicated; trying to see who can kill whom in a desparate race to pay inflated prices.

Good perspective from someone who knows what he's talking about. Just glad no Brothers got swept up--keep those papers in order, guys!

Just in case you did not read it in AM Costarica, my prediction of March 23, 2010 came true. These guys are like clockwork. Maybe the sleaze-ball who is up the food chain who orders these raid is trying to make penance for her misdeeds and corruption. Anyway, here is the article.

Raid nets 16 women at upscale hotel in San José

Judicial agents raided a downtown hotel that caters to U.S. men Thursday, but they did not find the und***ge prostitutes they were seeking. The location was the Hotel Little Havana Costa Rica, formerly known as Hotel Zona Blue. It is on Avenida 9 in Barrio Amón.

Agents accompanied by police with guns drawn entered the establishment to find some 15 women there. The Judicial Investigating Organization said it was conducting an operation against pimping. They said the women were Costa Rican and foreign, mostly Nicaraguan. Detained was the administrator of the hotel, a 49-year-old woman, said the Judicial Investigating Organization.

The raid was spearheaded by the Sección de Delitos Sexuales Contra la Vida y la Familia [the poozi police]. Agents said the investigation has been going on for several months. The hotel on its Web site said that employees were prohibited from meeting guests at locations other than the hotel, suggesting that at least some of the women were employed there.

The hotel was reborn as a place where men could smoke fine cigars. The hotel boasts of a walk-in humidor [very nice place to have a cigar and brandy]. It also has a cigar-smoking woman as a logotype and features photos of women with cigars on a portion of the Web site. There is nothing on the Web site to suggest that the hotel is offering prostitution.

Police and investigators periodically raid hotels and massage parlors in the downtown. Few stay closed for long. In August 2008 the Municipalidad de San José raided and closed down 25 massage parlors not because of suspected prostitution but because the establishments did not have ramps for wheelchair users.

Prostitution is not penalized in Costa Rica, but pimping is supposed to be a crime. There is a fine line between pimping and what many upscale hotels do when they allow guests to take women to their rooms. In most cases, the men meet the women on their own and not because the hotel facilitates the introductions.

Clearly in the pimping business are the many pensions and massage parlors when payment is made to a central cashier. These operations seldom are bothered because they mostly cater to locals.

However, before major religious holidays, police usually raid one or more hotels that cater to foreign tourists.

The judicial agents said that the foreign women would be interviewed and remanded to immigration authorities if they lacked the right to be in and work in Costa Rica. The administrator will be interviewed by prosecutors.

For years investigators have been trying to find hard evidence of prostitution of minors.

Most tourist hotels are very careful in screening the women they admit to the hotel. Nevertheless, the rumor persists of a widespread juvenile prostitution operation. Investigators appear to ignore the teenage girls who work the streets near Parque Morazán or outside tourist bars and restaurants. These women are freelancers, and some have been driven to their street locations by family members, even fathers.

[I wonder where the AMCostarica gets the information for the last sentence. Those are pretty sweeping accusations that probably cannot be substantiated if for no other reason than discovering that data is too subjective to quantify; the reliability and validation tests of qualitative data would be more than difficult at best.]

Well this sucks. I really liked the line up at HLH and was planning of going back there in May. Wonder which chicas are getting the boot?

I hve been in the NYB and this street girl walks in.....she is by far the best looking girl in the place ....my head swings around to follow her walk around the bar .....she is selling something (not herself) my wingman who lives here ....says to me forget it ....she isnt of age...I watch a few other guys check her out .....as she comes back to the door to leave I get a better look at her and see ...maybe 17 or 18. But my point is ....nobody stopped her at the door ....she could of sat at a table ....or very easy been picked up....she was by far the best looking girl....

For me , I had some help ...my friend had seen her before and was aware of her....it was early so only a few drinks..at the least the bartenders should chase this girl out ...the second she walks in.....

I employeed Latinas for over 30 years in the states, have dated them exclusively for almost 20 years, was married to one and now live here and am around them and know a lot of them (latinas) as friends. Age is, I think, much harder to tell with Latinas than with Anglo saxtons, but ( and I do not mean to sound concieted ) after being around them as much as I have over the years I can usually tell their age. Also, in places where the 'Indys' work, I have seen many chicas that I knew as neighbors of chicas that I was dating or had dated, and that I knew were und***ge. In the case of the 17 yo having the card of a 28 yo, the 28 yo was my favorita at the time and the 17 yo was her next door neighbor. I have talked to chicas who looked to be und***ge and asked to see their cards. In most cases, if you look closely (closer than the guards do) you can see that it is not the same chica. As I always say, WITH 1000s OF CHICAS TO CHOOSE FROM, WHY TAKE A CHANCE--IF SHE LOOKS TOO YOUNG, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! WHAT THE HELL DOES A GUY WANT WITH A 'BABY' ANYWAY I personally would much rather have a more experienced 24-28 yo anyday!!!!! Hell at my age, 24-28 is a "BABY"!!
