Repretel (owners of Channel 6 & 11) will open the largest, most modern iMax movie screen in the world.

Dec. 25 the iMax theatre & 2 of their digital/3D theatres will open showing Avatar along with 2 of their 4 35mm theatres.

On Jan. 4 they will open 2 VIP Theatres - with a Livingroom feel with some recliners with digital controls, loveseats & sofas & even WiFi. Waiters can serve you panninis, salads, wraps, sushi & more items to come along with a bar with scotch, vodka, wine, rum, beer!!

In total, these theatres will seat 1,300+ people.

After the first of the year their intention is to open a Sports Bar that will service theatre & non-theatre goers!

The Avenida Escazu mall will have a fast food court, restaurants, an ice cream parlor & cafes (KFC, Quiznos, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Ichiban Sushi, TCBY, Havanna, Teriyaki Experience, KafeHaus, GoGreen), at least 30 stores (http://AvenidaEscaz u.com/comercio_ tiendas.htm), offices, medical offices & in time a 5-star boutique hotel.

LOCATION: ESCAZU-on the East side of CIMA Hospital in the new venida Escazu ( http://AvenidaEscazu.com )

They need to throw some porn up. Man, how awesome would it be to see a girl get gaped out on the largest, most modern iMax movie screen in the world? Watching her balloon knot open up 20 feet wide....Nice  8)

*Sigh*

I think enlarging that visual would significantly detract from its appeal, even for you Cujo.

Great concept, now let's see the execution....I'd have used Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue" as the theme song...but that's just me...
Thanks for the notice from Our Man on the Scene, Brother ID.

Having seen Avatar on an iMax screen.....go see it!

It is a visually stunning movie, that is enhanced nicely by iMax.

You know if they are showing Avatar in English with Spanish subtitles or just strictly dubbed Spanish?

They are showing it both subtitled and dubbed, but it doesn't say whether the IMAX is subtitled or not.. I hope so.

FYI: http://www.repretel.com/cartelera.html

Went yesterday to see a regular movie, not the Imax. Lines to get into the imax are incredibly long right now (I would guess 50+ people in line just to buy tickets).

Tickets are bought on the main floor - 5K colones for imax was the correct price. Main floor has a food court with McD, TacoBell and a place advertising itself as a "Sushi/Deli". Public washrooms there were nothing special (not sure exactly what kind of review you're looking for).

When you go upstairs, they have the VIP lounges built but they didn't appear to be open. Main concession stand was pretty good with all the standards and about 8 different "combo" options starting at 3500 colones.

The regular theaters are stadium style seating, which is a welcome improvement from Multiplaza standard style.

thank you for the review...

the public bathroom inquiry is just an inside joke of how I have ragged in the past of the quality of the public facilities one may encounter in CR...ranging from the Del Rey to the SL to the hole in the wall at the corner cafe....in fact, we have had polls on which establishments had the best or worse facilities.

I believe the worst nominated were the facilities at the CardBoard Inn, Inc...nothing more than a stump in Morazan Park, some ash wipe and a fly swatter!

Didn’t think I would like Avatar but it was a very good film even on the ordinary screen, meaning not 3-D or Imax.
