I know a person very well that used to live in Taiwan and he contracted for a live in woman for 90 days at a time. She took care of the place the laundry, the cooking and him in bed as well. I don't know the common laws about marriage in CR but wouldn't it be great to have a plan like this in CR? Maybe some tweaking and it would work.

I know of people who have placed on advertisement in the Spanish language press seeking a live in housekeeper. They received a great number of replies and of those he selected to interview they all asked if they were expected to fulfill "wife" duties. When they were told yes almost all said no problem.

Would putting it into contract form be proof that she is a P4P woman? Thus giving or showing proof that it is a business relationship from the beginning; which would put a stop to the scammers saying that he is my boyfriend threatening me with violence and getting you kicked out of your own place so they can have it.

I would think that only in a romantic relationship can one get kicked out of your own house. If it's a strictly business relationship, there's little chance of that happening IMO. "Wife duties" ( ) would have to be included in the contract.

Sure thing! It is a contract spell out everything from the get go and even buy her Caja and pay the taxes etc. She would be a employee. What are the laws about marriage from cohabitation in CR?

To protect yourself and have her as an employee would require more then a simple contract. You would have to register her with the CAJA and pay your share of her health and pension. You would have to make sure you followed the labor rules on hours permitted to be worked daily/weekly before you would have to pay overtime. You would have to make sure you pay the minimum standard for her position, pay for legal holidays that she is required to work and pay her aguinaldo in December. To be safe you would most likely have to have an attorney make sure you are doing everything by the book. If you have not and she complains to the labor department you could wind up paying her some considerable amount in claims.

I thought we were commenting on the original post in this thread.

You would have to make sure you pay the minimum standard for her position.
Wonder how that would be determined? Definitely an attorney would be involved.

The government labor department publishes the minimum pay rate, maximum hours, etc. It changes from time to time. I seem to recall twice a year but not certain of that.
