VB, Irish Drifter, et al...keep us up to date on the election results. I did not realize that one of Laura's opponents, Otto Guevara of the Libertarian Movement Party, has proposed adopting the US dollar as the country's currency. Damn, that would make things a little easier for us Gringos!

I like the discount by paying in Colones though, it usually is in our favor.

You can get the results as they are tabulated on the net.

"Beginning at 8pm today, the Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) will start posting the results of voting on their website http://www.tse.go.cr, reporting the vote count from the 6617 voting centres who wil either call in or send the results by internet to the TSE central offices in San José."

Is it possible a female president would be less favorable for mongering.....

even though Ticos go to MP's, I would think TICA's in power might want to make things more difficult

I also have a bad feeling, although thinking about it, I don't think that Ticos will put up with outlawing prostitution, after all it is part of the Latino culture. And really part of world culture, except for USA, which was founded by Puritans.

This will be the final update because the final result is no longer in question.

74.65 reported and Laura has 46.77% of the vote. Enough to be elected without having to have a runoff election.

In addition to what ID said, both of the two runner ups (Otton Solis and Otto Guevara) have conceded and sent President Elect Laura Chinchilla M., congratulatory messages.
