...And that experience is OUTSTANDING! I'm no more a fan of the dentist's office than anybody else but they sure take a lot of the sting out of it. You'll be met and driven by a guy with the bearing and demeanor of top management (he was) and the size of a basketball player (he was that too--he's intelligent on a lot of subjects but mention "college hoops" and there you go)--Jeff Wilson. The building is modern and the offices inside clean, bright and stocked with the latest equipment (portable digital low-dosage x-ray; a cleaning machine that doesn't make you feel like you've been sand-blasted). The general dentist Dra. Yelda Fernandez (with advanced training in Colombia) and her assistant Monica provide firm but gentle service--they bring the "care" to dental care. Dra. Fernandez even gave a 2-minute shoulder massage in the chair, as I'd tensed up a bit. Dra. Fernanandez can do more than general work, but for periodontistry (gums and bone work) they have Dra. Andrea Stedem who is an oral surgeon (she studied 4 years in Germany and regularly travels to the Guanacaste Gold Coast to perform work). They will be adding other specialists selectively no doubt--they have the offices ready for them (ortho- and endodontists) and feature their own on-site dental lab (the owner Mike Lomax has 35+ years in the business). This is now an excellent office--it will be an excellent truly full-service office. They claim zero-wait before treatment and that was my experience--in the door, in the chair--zoom zoom. Speaking of Zoom--they feature the Zoom! teeth whitening system at a very competitive price--at least compared with the US. A word on prices--I asked why no prices listed in the ads and was told CR law forbids or restricts such comparo ads, to Esthetic's dismay--they pride themselves on being a low-cost high-quality provider, but without being able to mention prices, how do you prove it? They will quote via email--ask about a procedure to find a price including more specialized work like dental implants, bridges, etc. But I'll say this--I was 3 hours /- in the chair. and got a deep cleaning and 7 fillings done, for a total with discount of $317. I have an appointment Thursday for periodontal work (no upselling or pressure on this--they just laid it out what I'd need to have done to keep my teeth) and will report back on the itemized cost of that plus amending this with particulars. They're happy to apply the CRT discount even waiving the 4% it costs them for Credit Card use.
Bottom line: If you have been putting off any kind of dental work because of fear or finances, hesitate no longer. Your teeth will not improve by themselves and you could not be in better hands than Esthetic Dental. They even bring you back to your hotel after. No longer any excuses to put off the necessary--not if you're a paid CRT VIP anyway. Another Kudos to Senior Brother Admin1 for bring us and them together.
