Yeah, fine, great. Now mind toning down the all-caps thing? (the online equivalent of shouting).

Looking for a keyboard player/singer? :?:

I need an excuse to come back sooner than later to C.R. A "gig" would be a fine excuse.

You will have to discuss that with me, El C, since I am their manager (10% :D ). They are in the process of learning some Doors and Animals tunes in order to impress upper management. I believe for the 3/5 show the Big Cheese is in town. I'm with you guys. I'm talking you up everyday to the Head Honcho. I tell him to "please don't let me be understood" and these guys are going to "light your fire" (hint, hint).

:D

Actually I've been there, done that. I sit in with Peter everytime he and I are in town at the same time, and I also sat in with another group on my last trip. What can I say? I am a musical whore.

Dean: That organ part in Light My Fire is fun, as is the organ part in "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." In C.R., it's all about the organ...

Ah...the Animals. I remember them well. 'House of the Rising Sun' has to be one of the most 'righteous' rock n' roll songs ever! Actually, the song was written in 1933! While many people/bands have covered the song, it was the Animals version that made the song popular. The opening guitar riff is classic. Eric Burden was still touring as of a couple of years ago. I saw some concert footage on Youtube. It was sad. The guy is about 70 now.

Anyway, sorry for 'hijacking' the thread.

If it's a music thread and you're talking music, it ain't "hijacking". Es verdad. What a great medley BTW--"House..." and "How Much is that Doggie in the Window". Hint: It's not a doggie in that window--think Amsterdam's prostitute presentation

I think I hear a slightly different rendition of Billy Joel's Piano Man I just might have to work on those lyrics.

It's amazing how many rock, country and jazz tunes have dealt with the topic of p4p. There's another thread around here somewhere, but I have a few favorites:

"Sweet Painted Lady," Elton John

"Love for Sale" (oops, forgot author)

"take a Walk on the Wild Side" (okay, this one is about _gay_prostitution, but....) - Lou Reed

"Just a Gigolo" - Louis Prima, later David Lee Roth...

Anything by Chinga Chavin... particularly "texas Border Story"

"She was straddling a soldier at the bar,

I said 'Oye, cherie, como esta?;

Then a fellow came up and said, 'Hey Meester! How'd ya like to f*ck my seester?
She's a virgin and she looks like a movie star."

:D

Brother El Ciego's list would make for an interesting Cd or equivalent. I'm seen this kinda comp done for R&B and the blues--an idea whose time has come.

You forgot Fancy by Reba

"She said just be nice to the gentlemen Fancy
And they'll be nice to you"

Well, it's been a while since I've posted and what better way to come back than with slightly revised lyrics to the "House of the Rising Sun"

The House of the Zona Blue

There is a house in San Jose
They called the Zona Blue
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God it got me too

My first time wasn't a failure
With Karen, Laura and Pam
We phucked all night til I was cured
And now I feel like a man

Now the only thing a monger needs
Is some condoms in his case
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on the chase

------ organ solo ------

Oh mothers tell your Ch*ldren
Not to do what I would do
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the Hotel Zona Blue

Well, I got one foot on the jet bridge
The other foot on the plane
I'm goin' back to San Jose
To wear that ball and chain

Well, there is a house in San Jose
They called the Zona Blue
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God it got me too
