I need to get some input from my more experienced brothers here at CRT.

I got ripped off by someone I pulled from HDR. Through a weird circumstance, I ended up in possession of her ID. I know she is really upset she lost it, and has no idea I have it.

So the question is, do I return it, even though she ripped me off, and will likely rip other off? Or do I return it because she will not be able to work without it?

I'll put my trust into the wisdom of the group here.

Burn that motherfucker and don't look back! And don't listen to the sensitive side. She ripped you off, it's a no brainer...

How hard is it to get another ID??

I would probably burn it anyways....You could always cut it in little squares

But you should post info and a pic if you had to keep her from robbing the next guy?

She ripped me off for $80.

I don't want to post the name or details here because I'm pretty sure it's a crime to not turn the ID back in. And I don't want the trouble of extorting her.

And for what it's worth, I didn't steal her ID. She lost it and was freaking out about losing it, and I found it after she left. I just didn't chase her down to give it to her after I confirmed she ripped me off. She was crying and saying it wold take 30 days to get another one, and that she couldn't work until she did.

It seems the consensus here is to burn it. I'll wait until tomorrow and tally up the votes. Then I don't have to feel guilty, you guys did it!

Payback is a bitch!! If she is Tica, it should be easy to get an ID, or a temporary in the meantime. Probably not expensive at all. If she is foreign, it still shouldn't be that hard to get a replacement.

I'm sorta surprised you even give a shit. I mean, either give it to her and hopefully remind her what a douche she is for ripping you off or get rid of it.

You shouldn't be worried about getting in any sort of trouble that's for sure. I don't know how well your spanish is but I'd find her and say "hey remember me? Right, the guy you ripped off. I haven't seen you in so long but I have your I.D. if you still want it.

Consider it decent monger Karma. Once again, its not about making her feel bad, but rather embarrassed. Ashamed works too..

I would scan the ID and post it in the appropriate section on this site, so that other can be made aware of her.

What do you want to do? It really doesn't matter what I would do.

How did she rip you off? Did she hold a gun to your head? Were you loose with what you left out? IMO, this also makes a great difference.

I got ripped for most of the things on the top of the refrig at the SL on my first trip. It cost me about $40.00, but I don't blame them. I was really stupid, and it cost me a little, but I learned a valuable lesson. I haven't been ripped of since. I lock everything up, every time.

Unless she somehow "strong armed you", I would give it back. I would also post her name and how it happened so others would be aware, and let her know that I was doing it.

In my past feelings about life, I would have kept it and hoped that she ate sh*t and died. I have been gifted by a new way of thinking that works much better for me now.

Drop out of your head about this, and into your heart, it will not steer you wrong. What does your heart tell you to do, for you have to sleep tonight with whatever decision you make?

Hmmm State driver licenses are the property of the state, in the U.S... I don`t know what the law is in CR, but seems like technically all you would need to do is mail her I.D. back to the government whereby she may see it again some day well off in the future. Who knows... Why do her any favors? I can`t see where you could be in any way legally obligated to hunt her down and return the ID. Now would it be illegal for you to tell her "hey, give me back my $80 or I just drop your ID in the mail"? I don`t know. I sure agree with the lesson from it, ie. "lock things up next time," but also is nothing wrong with holding a theif accountable. Good folks don`t steal just because they can, and legally, opportunity is no excuse. Good luck in whatever you do.

P.S. This goes without saying, but before publishing a chick`s picture and name in association with something like this first be damn sure she did it...
