Airport Departure Tax $26. Yes you can pay and pick it up it on arrival....Although I never do, never have waited more than 30 seconds to get it...

Taxi from airport to DR is about $19-20. DR still has the $10 chica fee....

Last I heard they had done away with the tax sale booth in the immigration area and the one in the departure area across from the AA ticket counter.

That leaves only the one across from the TACA counter at the departure level. It is rarely crowded now that Banco de Costa Rica sell the tax stamp at most of it's branches.

You can pay the departure tax at the Holiday Inn also. Its $30 if you pay it there.

Unbelievable. I have never heard of anyplace, who sell the tax stamp for cash, adding a fee. Their greed is utterly astonishing.

When I am there on business and stay at the Inter Continental or the Marriott out by the airport they also charge a service charge to get your departure tax of $5.00

I still don't get the entire worry about the Departure tax, I have never waited more than 5 minutes at the airport and in some cases when I used to stay at the Presidente it took longer to get the tax done there than waiting at the airport.

This being Aurola Holiday Inn, I am surprised it was that cheap. I would have suspected that it would have been a $10 fee. They don't call it a fee, it is called an additional charge. I guess it sounds better, more five starish.

Its 4 bucks extra. Who cares, if you're a guest there you can maybe save the time in line at the airport. No one is forcing anyone to get it there. Its a business, providing a service, and they look to make a profit. If you dont wanna pay 30, then stand in line at the airport.
