Who honestly believes the average HDR chica wants to be in the "business"? Some yea... most would chose something different. That's not the point and certainly not this thread's topic of discussion.

There's a guy named Sonny who frequently hits the HDR. I think the last count was 30 plus trips. Lives in CA and in his late 30's or early 40's. Looks like Elvis Costello. He and I are a lot alike in that after 10 trips it all looks the same, but we still show up for various reasons besides the chicas. One night he tells me this story how he was sitting at the lobby bar and he notices this chica come through the main doors, fumbles with her ID, then grabs the closest seat... alone. She's out of place. He goes on to relate how he goes over after 15-20 minutes, sits down and begins to chat. She's new alright... very attractive, but to Sonny something wasn't right. She didn't belong in the HDR. After an hour of conversation he says, "let's go" and they walk out the main door. She's thinking $$$ he's thinking something else. Standing outside he hands her 100 bucks. She appears dumbfounded probably thinking shouldn't this be happening in the room. Sonny tells her the following. "Take this money, get a cab and don't ever come back in this place again. He said to me, "what do you think she did?" and with no opportunity to answer he claims, "she started crying like a baby". She thought this was a "whorehouse", but Sonny showed her a different side as to how things worked, at least in this case. "This wasn't the place for her" and as a longtime vet he felt like this was the right thing to do. She got a cab alright, but before leaving asked Sonny to dinner for the next night after she had dried her tears and composed herself. According to him they did go to dinner the next night and had a great time.

The point of the story is that there is a human side to the hobby and those who offer themselves. Plant a seed (non-leche) and you'll never know what might happen. :D :D :D

I did the same thing with another boardmember here (No, I didn't pay HIM $100, we both split the $100 for a girl that looked very new and nervous). She was VERY grateful, and then said she'd come to say goodbye the next day. Well, she missed me as she got there too late. Then, she stayed around to work.

You're right - there are many types and a lot of girls don't want to be in this biz. That's why you should ALWAYS treat them the best you can - you'll find out very quickly which ones are a bit more "aggressive" and which ones are a bit more timid. I've even found a more experienced one having a"moment" that she had to choke back the tears. She then composed herself quickly and gave me a big hug and thanked me for being so nice.

And I have to say, we had a GREAT time that night - turned out to be more of a "date" than a "job."

I'm still a sucker for fairy tales like this, even after 40 years of mongering.

I think it is probably kind of like killing people. The first time is the hardest. Seriously, we come from a society where there are a zillion social safety nets. Costa Rica, like so many other places, has very little of that. First you turn to your family and friends; and when that fails, you do whatever is necessary. Most get hardened after awhile, but they're still people. I too, have seen the ones who don't fit in and have put kindness in front of lust. Nice going.

Nice story, totally credible. One of the few times I believe most Members would say that's Cien well-spent. It's so easy to get into "The Life" and so damn tough to get out of it.

...Maybe and maybe she uses that as a microloan to open her own bodega or funds her Aunt's, then marries the Vice-President's nephew. ..we'll never know the end of this story, will we? Cynicism especially based on scant and only personal evidence is so easy, I've found. 99.999% is not 100%.

This is the problem I got with supposedly white knights and their deeds. They are always trying to change human nature instead of getting to the root cause of the problem. Wouldn’t it be nobler and more efficient for the monger to stop mongering instead of just giving $100 away, if he did care about the ply of the chicas?

I also have an issue with monger always finding virgins at the HDR. Some of you guys write finding more virgins in the HDR than on a church choir. HEEELLLOOO! You are just being fooled. By the time most of this chicas have made it to the HDR big leagues they have either worked MP’s, being the town ho, or abuse by family members or their whole neighborhood. Not all of them but a vast majority.

*** Now I’m going to give you a realistic 2nd chapter to that story. Chica shows up the next day at the HDR. It has been a great week for her. Last night was the fourth gringo that fell for her story. She has been hooking since she was 15 years old. But they thing is her first time. She goes back to the HDR to see if she could get another $100. If she meets the previous gringos she will tell them that that she is just there to “Thank” them. A previously taken gringo even gave her a second $100 after he found her in the HDR. She will have to tell her cousin about this new shakedown. She wants to buy the new cellphone. She is very glad her husband told her how to do this. ***

I’m not trying to be negative but realistic about our approach. When you give money so freely, you are creating EXPECTATIONS on the chicas that we are not only made out of money but that is the only use for us. If you want to be charitable, seek out a reputable charitable organization, join or donate to your hearts content.

And we wonder why they always look at us like ATM’s?

A sucker born every minute... she started crying because it's all she could do to hold back the laughter at this silly gringo.

What does giving any first-time HDR "virgin" $100 for nothing accomplish? Other than putting a sucker sticker on your forehead, it just shows her that gringos are stupid and when she returns the next night, she will try to find easy money again instead of actually earning it.

You are 100% correct. We'll never know the end of the story.

You fit the perfect sterotype of a New Yorker. You've been riding the subway for way too long... your "tunnel vision" is keeping you from seeing the forest for all the trees.

The thread is titled "The Human Side of Hooking" for a reason. The thread you might be looking for is "The Bitter Side of Getting Screwed".

.....and all that money that was donated to help the K*ds at the orphanage was given by "suckers" because each and every one of those K*ds are going to become crack dealing, sister pimping street thugs. Right ? I still go by the adage, " fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me ". I hope to hell, that I drop dead before I ever become that jaded. :!:

Good call...

Anyone have any educated guesses about how many chicas are INTO the lifestyle versus how many CAN'T STAND it?

I think most people probably hate their jobs sometimes.I know I do.But I think I would rather pretend that they love it and are dying to meet me.

I know what somebody will probably say next though..

"You don't have sweaty dudes all over you at your work."

But maybe I do

I could be a college student doing his psychology term paper on inner conflicts of monger relationships and the Freudian root causes behind it all,for all ya'll know.

Or I could just be a regular aging doofus that is bored on a Sunday waiting for his lawnmower battery to charge..yeah,that is probably it...
