I didn't want to hijack El Ciego's MagicJack thread, so I'll ask here.

What kind of phones do you guys use?

I have a simple "slim" phone, but it's still kind of bulky.

Are there any small phones out there? The Innovage flip phone that they sell on Ebay for like $15-20 is a piece of garbage from what I read. The sound sucks and it uses expensive watch batteries.

Any ideas?

I bought a very simple, basic $8 Wal-Mart phone. I unhooked it from the cradle, and just bring the phone with me. It's very small and works fine. When I'm not using it, I just lay it along the edge of the table to keep the phone "hung up". Otherwise, without the cradle, you'd have to hold the button down so the phone stays off. Sound quality is fine, and if I lose it or it gets stolen or broken, I'll just get another.

I got a Uniden cordless 5.8 ghz, it was the smallest cordless & base with speakerphone (which was a must for me) that I could find, about 23 bucks. Probably bulkier than the one you have though.

The cheap Radio Shack phone worked fine for me.

Can you use a cordless? I would think that you could, as long as the base was plugged into MJ, but I thought I read that it has to be a corded phone.

When I need to use it I unplug the phone from my hotel room and plug it into the MagicJack.

I tried that but then you can take calls on the hotel phone. And switching back and forth was a pain as the wall jack was behind the desk.

Radio Shack sells a very small flip style phone that can fit into your front pocket. This is convenient size for traveling as it doesn’t take up much suitcase space. Just some FYI.

I found this phone at www.dealextreme.com. It costs $3.99 with free shipping. It works great.

The same for me, I cannot live without speakerphone. Especially went you have to use both hands in your chica and take a call at the same time. :P :P :P

I suggest using a headset. Just plug it into your computer while the MagicJack is in a USB and you're good to go. Some of the smaller fold-up models pack very well and can also be used with with your cell phone and regular cordless phone. If you take a set of headphones with you on trips as most do, a headset with a flip-back microphone eliminates the need for a bunch of other accessories.

At first I tried to use the phones in the hotels I stayed in, but in the more upscale hotels like the Fairmont in San Francisco the phones were so interconnected with the wazoo electronic sh*t in the room that they would not work with the Magic Jack. I simply purchased an AT&T slim line phone at Target for $5.00 and take it with me whenever I leave town. It works great.
