You might find that information using the search function. I'm not sure about teeth whitening, but there's been several threads in the past about good / bad dentists in the SJO area. I know that Irish Drifter has recommended his dentist in the past, and El Silencioso has had some extensive dental work done while in town. You might want to send a PM to either of those members, and I'm sure they can lead you in the right direction.

MG

Are you asking about teeth whitening?

Dr. Chen does it for about $100 (requires three 30 minute visits). Others do the laser (Zoom) whitening but it's more expensive.

Do a search for "dentist"

Any dentist can do that at a better price than the US. Dr. Chen charges $25 for an exam and cleaning.

Search for Dra. Yanile Sanchez. From my limited experience, that's the only name you need to know.

I found out about Dra. Sanchez through this Board and, yes, I've used her services for cleaning and 1 filling. She also recommended a night guard for me--teeth grinding in my sleep-and made it up for me on the spot. Great personality and very professional. A search here will get contact info or PM me.

I can't believe people are still recommending "Dr" Chen. after all the bad reviews on this board. He so shaky he's got parkinsons or is on a meth binge or has a wooden leg . But all the work he did for me, the other dentist, were horrified by and had to be redone.

I and several of my friends and amiga-novias have used Dra. Susanah Zomer and her husband Dr. Alejandro Pinchanski in Paseo Colon.
They are a young couple and speak English.

Directions and Contact info.
Del Banco do Costa Rica, Paseo Colon
200 mts N, 100 mts. E y 25mts. S. Oficentro GEFEN Tel 2255 3648.

They are very cautious to do major work and try to preserve natrual teeth as long as possible. I had a tooth they saved by giving me special mouthwash and toothpaste for 2 weeks. I didn't think it would work but it did, saving me a root canal.

They replaced my ex girlfriends metal fillings with white fillings 2.5 years ago with great results.

They have a little camera connected to a Monitor so you can see inside your mouth to discuss whatever they see.

If you just want a cleaning, they are great for that because they do as little work as possible. Never any kind of upsell.

Dr. Chen did 2 crowns for me about 3 years ago....no complaints. 8)

I saw him this past June and he did a cleaning for me. I watched for any shaking, and I really didn't notice anything. He did seem to have a little bit of a "wheezing [??]" but it was really hard to tell what it was, since he was wearing a face mask. :?

Follow Up. I was there yesterday to repare an old filling that had come out and a general cleaning...They inspect every tooth one by one and try to keep it going as long as possible. Again and as usual, minimal work. and cost 100 dollars for cleaning and filling. I'm still using 5 natural teeth, pain free that another dentist wanted to root canal ,cap, and crown 5 years ago.

Another option is the dental college at U. Latina in San Pedro. They have the latest equipment and are very professional at a very good price. Three hundred meters north of M&N plaza, you have to circle the block.

Great suggestion -

We are not exactly talking brain sugery here; I suspect most Dentists in CR will do a good job proforming a cleaning - In May, I had an exam and cleaning for $50 - try one of the CRT Dentist sponsors.
