It was the lead story on Repretel 6 and I am sure it will be front page La Nacion tomorrow. I have read that many of us who have the distinction of gray hair are somewhat immune from Swine Flu based on strains of fly we may have experienced as Ch*ldren.

I read an interesting article a few weeks ago that indicated that we've been in a pandemic ever since 1918. Swine flu and all of the other big flu outbreaks we've seen over the years are all kin of the Spanish Influenza that killed so many people then, according to the article. We keep hearing so much that is contradictory about how bad this flu is compared to the ones that come around every year. The 1918 flu spread rapidly by steamship, in part because of the war then. Now it would take no time in Atlanta, New York, London, Paris, ..., any major hub, to pass it on to the entire planet.

after i came home from my first trip back in june, i became extremely ill. i actually felt more sick than i ever have in my life.

i had a fever, the chills, sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, couldn't sleep, etc.

i was out of commission for pretty much a week. even though i wasn't afraid i was going to die from it, it felt like i was.

my mom works in a hospital in nyc and i asked her if she's ever treated patients with the swine flu. she said she's treated plenty, and she was pretty sure that i caught it, too.

but i survived, now hopefully i've built some kind of immunity to it! lol
