Can anyone recommend a store for an exam and glasses? I'm looking for photo grey bi-focals and they are muy caro aqui.
Thanks.

Most of the Super Walmarts have good optical departments with decent prices. Have you tried that?

I spent over a day and then some going in and out of Optical Shops in San Jose and concluded that Optica Vision was by far the best deal all the way around, including the exam.

The great thing about them, too, is that you can take 'em back time and time again and they will happily adjust and "fix" anything that may be wrong with them. Helps to have the receipt, but once you're in their computer data base....you're there and any of the stores can access what you bought, when you bought, the day you bought, etc.

I personally had my own frames that I desired to be fitted with High Index, single vision lentes.....they did a great "street wire" job on them because of the nature of my Rx....and the rimless Gucci frames I was working with......

I had a pair of glasses made last year in SJO and had to have them redone after returning to the States. They were given to a little shop on Central just down the street from the President Hotel. I had a feeling they wouldn't be good by the way the attendant did the fitting, etc. The cost was just over $100 and only no-line bifocals with no other options. I'm told, by a local Dr. friend, that a good place is just across the street from the Theatre National, but they were closed for remodeling last year. Just giving you my experience.

I wear contact lenses, and they are more expensive in CR. I needed a box and I was charged 14k ($27) at Optica Vision about a year ago for Acuvues that cost $16 here.

The exam is dirt cheap though. I paid 5,000¢ for the same exam that the optometrists here charge $75.
