Post subject:  Wine shops
I'm trying to put together some wine tastings for a few groups. Do any of you guys living in San Jose know of any good shops or stores for decent wines? I seem to remember one in San Pedro, but not sure.

Holtermann y Compania has an excellent wine shop in Llorente de Tibás. It would be very well suited to wine tasting as it has a large open sala and it's selection of wines is quite good. It is located 50 meters east of Pricesmart on the left. About a five or ten minute cab drive from the gulch. Their number is 2297 1212. More info at http://holtermann.co.cr

The one in San Pedro is almost across the street from Scotia Bank. It is on the north side of the street in the shopping center that has the Japanese restaurant Ichabon (sp?). A couple of blocks west of M&N.There is also one in Plaza Laurles in Escazu.

I second El Tranquilo’s recommendation.

There is another wine shop east of Curidabat in the western part of Tres Rios. It is on the Tres Rios road (the road which is north of and parallel to the autopista Cartago). It is located between the entrance to the pista and the Hipermas.

If you are interested, I could drive over there and get a name and phone number.
