http://indicadoreseconomicos.bccr.fi.cr ... nilla.aspx is a web site which lists the daily exchange rate at "all" of the places.....you will see they are all pretty much the same EXCEPT for the exchange booth in the airport where you pick up your bags. If you must exchange at once, you can walk outside and go upstairs (at the airport) and enter the place as if you are flying home....turn to your right and you will find a bank at the end which gives, essentially, the "good rate".....

Yes they are kind enough because they lower the rate and make money off it, just like every other hotel does.
