I'm planning our 2nd trip to CR and for the hell of it, check the dollar rate exchange. The dollar has fallen considerably since November! Yikes! I'm hoping this is just a high fluctuation! The last thing I want to count is dollars when I want to count women!! 
We're planning for Sept 9th. |

Just try to remember that $60,000c is not $60us... Just try to remember that 60,000 colones at 547.50 exchange rate = $109.58 and the same 60,000 colones at a 570.00 exchange rate = $105.26. Anytime it costs me $4.32 less to buy the same product at 60k colones it means the dollar is worth more not less. Old math. Same at private and public schools as near as I can determine.

Geez guys. It is very simple. Anytime the CR bank has to give you more colones to buy your dollar it is because the colon is weaker and the dollar stronger. Should they give you less colones to buy your dollar it means the colon is stronger and the dollar weaker. It's hardly advanced Keynesian economics. Time to get out your econ 101 textbooks.

Pac55, Amigo I just have to ask   What is$60000c    .If you were trying to write 60000 colonies it would be c60000. They do not use a $ sign.
But you and all are correct; the dollar is stronger against the colony which sure does not speak well for the colony concidering how weak the dollar is against most other currencies

I could really give a phuck which is correctly correcto, I just wanted people to understand what I was saying and c60000 does not mean money to most people while $60000c means money, just not dollars. Colony? I think you need a drank!

yahoo finance currency convertion section is doing the conversion wrong its sayin 517.00 colons to the dollar its really around 570. king dollar can buy more mediocre food in colons now.

Colony? I think you need a drank! NO!! I do not need a drank Guess I am just so use to hearing Ticos saying "colony" that I just did not think when I was typing. I do know it is colon (singular) and colonies (plural).
And I do think the vast majority reading this would know that the "c" in front of a number represents the Costa Rican money "colonies". . JMO

Actually you are all wrong. The dollar is not stronger at all, it has actually fallen against major currencies. It's just that the colon is even weaker, depreciating at a much faster rate, making it seem like the dollar is gaining. |
