Why do I get a hint of a sneer in Mag's post? Sort of a "see ya later, suckers..." kind of vibe to the message. Yeah, yeah... Brazil is in all ways superior to C.R., therefore any monger who continues to enjoy C.R. is somewhat inferior. ![]() Either way Mag, que le vaya bien. Hasta luego, y buena suerte. ![]() |

Probably not a bad idea to find a new mongering destination. The climate definately seems to be working against us in CR.If I am lucky, I may squeeze in a very short CR run before November, then I will call it quits too. |

I'll never call it quits. CR is relatively close, it's a known commodity, and I have several pals who still go regularly. I think mongers should appreciate CR for what it is - a great place to blow it all out for a few days and have a great time with friends old and new, but it's not the Holy Grail of, well, anything. Nowhere is. I would recommend to anyone to mix it up. Hit Europe, Rio, the DR, CR, Thailand, and wherever else interests you. Experience new things. I started mongering in earnest in CR, ignored it for a while trying new destinations, and now hit CR about every other trip or two. I have a blast every time. In my mind CR doesn't offer the best of anything, but it has so much going for it that it's still my favorite destination (although Colombia would win that distinction if it wasn't such a bitch to get to). We all have our own opinions and preferences, but I think those that give up on CR completely to graze on the other side of the fence are missing the point. |

yeah but CR is half a day's flight away (less than 3 hours from Miami) and Rio has the second highest AIDs rate of any city in the world. |

As said it needs to be excepted for what it is. I love it for a 2 3 or 4 day weekend. Thailand or the PI is the best for a long vacation IMHO. |
