Are you kidding me? It seems that the local thugs have taken to attacking ambulances who are on emergency calls. Read www.amcostarica.com on page 1 if you have a strong stomach.

Now, explain to me again, how eliminating Gringo-Oriented Prostitution ("GOP") will do anything to reduce crimes like this? :? After all, the tico supporters of Laura Chinchilla believe that we and our "hobby" are a major cause of crime in SJ (don't they?) and use that as a rationale for doing away with or at least trying to reduce "GOP". It must have been all a bunch of Nicaraguans or Colombians that did this because, as we all know, the crime problem in CR could never be the fault of the ticos themselves. :roll:

PRO - That is real easy to explain :idea: The Ticos have been blaming EVERY problem and EVERYTHING bad that happens to them on someone or something besides themselves for so long that now someone else is at fault no matter how blatantly obvious it is. And the bad, rich Gringo is the most promanant figure to blame it on. :? :cry: :roll:

Colombians are much more sensible, they would have stolen the entire vehicle, kidnapped the crew for ransom and started their own rescue service.

Unbelievable what next take down the nuns?......Obviously the crimes are targeting unsuspecting and weak targets....Its getting out of hand in CR when are they going to revolt and actually enforce laws besides going after pensions and gringos (no violence or resistance there for police).
Seems any tough and difficult criminals which the police cant extort money from are ignored.

Yeah? What have the wealthy, insulated, and "connected" of Costa Rica done to protect the disadvantaged of Costa Rica who work long and hard hours for little or no money? These are the folks who work with the coins "mongers" laugh at....

The issue is NOT about the "TICOs"....it's about the ever growing chasm that exists between the "well heeled" and the people of Costa Rica who do the work which keeps the country running.

MY experience with the regular "Joe" and "Jane" in Costa Rica is the fact they don't place blame on "gringos" (a pejorative racial descriptor if ever there was one....).....they KNOW they're getting the shaft from the monied families but have little at their disposal (the "vote"????? WHAT A LAUGH) to change the ever growing arrogance of those with money....who represent what % of the overall population of this Nation? :cry:

When a person from the USA has a view of this Nation only relative to "gringo gulch", it is my strong urging that said person expand their travels within CR to the North, the South, the East....and, yes, ....even the WEST (of San Jose) to find out what's what. There has been a storm on the horizon for years and the "global economic meltdown" has amplified the impact of the storm once it arrives. :idea: :!:

BTW, I don't know if many ticos really DO seriously believe GOP is a major cause of crime in SJ. That's something I heard from BB57. However, as most of you know, I HAVE been all over CR to places other than Gringo Gulch and Gringozu and I HAVE heard many REGULAR ticos expressing xenophobic attitudes towards Nicaraguans, Colombians and, yes, sometimes Gringo mongers. From everything I've heard, they seem much more apt to blame problems of crime and the economy on poor illegal immigrants from other latin countries than they are to speak out about tico class divisions.

PS: How much you figure a vote "costs" in CR to support the PLN? I reckon not a whole lot. Perhaps ever a mere promise of some trinket might do the job....

Still extend the invitation for a chat, no hiding here. You know of my upcoming trip and where I'm staying so anytime (unless the do not disturb sign is out) let me at least finish my nut... :wink:
