I'm looking for some advice. I have been to CR many times and I have done the rafting many times, canopy tour, city tour in SJ, 4-wheeling outside of Jaco, surfing in Jaco, and volcano tour. I haven't done the fishing, but in October the last time I went, it was more expensive then what I wanted to pay. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to try? There are 3 straight guys going. LOL I really appreciate it.

My strong recommendation is to scout up Brother Prolijo's excellent posts on this subject--try Searching "Day Trips". Off the top of my head, time permitting, on a future trip, consider ultralight flights on the Pacific Coast or maybe a tour of a cigar factory--our Sponsor Don Ursulo offers a 1/2 day trip I think. How about dancing lessons a couple of hours a day for a week (Merecumbe has several schools in the area)? The only limit here is your imagination.

I have been to Valle del Sol in Santa Ana but find the green fees/club rental and taxi fare comes to around $120.
They would not let me play at the Caliari Club.
What are your suggestions here ?

Hmmm, well I've only played Valle De Sol. I get the mexican chino to drive me.

If you get a CR liscense you don't get charged the gringo green fees. This will be my first trip bringing my clubs so that cancels club rentals.

All in all (including caddies) it should be around $70. If you are around when I come down you can catch a ride, that should defray the cost a little...

I am not likely to get a CR license so will have to pay gringo rates. Carrying my clubs is a headache. Looks like I could only save on taxi fare by sharing.
Thanks anyway .

Hmmm… What don’t you do what you went to CR to do? Hit another MP, SL or the HDR. You got limited time and days to be in CR. I can golf/shop/canoe/etc at better locations and better prices at home.

I have been to La Paz water falls on 2 occaisions and enjoy it alot. About 1.5 hours from the gulch. Rented a car one time with GPS and drove myself there. Do not eat there. It is expensive and not that good.

The ATV tour is great. One of the VIP sponsors has an ATV tour they do. It's under $100 for 1/2 a day. It's a great time. If you go with a couple of guys you know, it's awesome.

Another favorite is the Canopy Tour (zip lines). It's a very cool activity that everybody must do at least once in CR. I'm planning on going again this next trip.

If you like nature, do the 4-in 1 tour. It's a 6am to 8pm deal, and you get your money's worth. I'd do it again just for the exercise alone.

I've done the ATV tour out of Jaco and I believe it was with the guy that is a member. There were 4 buddies of mine and myself and we all had a good time. So I recommend it if you haven't done it. The canopy tour is fun to do once. I probably wouldn't do it a second time now that I have done it. The best thing for me is the rafting. I love getting crazy on some rapids and the scenery is outstanding. So if you haven't done that, you need to do it with some friends and have a good time. I want to try the fishing, but last time I checked it was very expensive. I don't want to spend that much money on fishing for a half day or day.

He said he has done all these things. He is looking for something new.

The 4 in 1 tour and La Paz waterfalls are good suggestions. If you want to spend a relaxing day you might want to hire a driver and tour the Orosi Valley. Some great scenery and for lunch you can stop at one of the many trout farms in the area catch some fish and they will cook them. You can also skip the catch the fish part and just have a great lunch of fresh caught trout.

The link to Prolijo's post is fantastic. I couldn't find it doing the search function so thanks for posting it. There are 243 pages of "day trip" posts. LOL Yes, I am looking for something new, but I should be able to find something on that post with all the info. THANKS!!!!!

The La Paz Waterfall Gardens are still closed from the earthquake but are planning to reopen on June 13th, except for the Peace Lodge which will be closed until July.

I agree, if I could ever get up early enough I would love to try these things. Seems to me like a sacrafice needs to be made the night before in order to do those things.

You know how that is though. The night starts out chill next thing you know you got people chillen in the room perhaps even get down with a chica and out of nowhere it's 6 a.m.
