Post subject: | Pet Peeves / Need to vent |
Sorry my friends but I need to vent this holiday weekend, Especially because I can’t be in CR and don't know when I can make it back !! CRT First: I've seen enough pictures of Pamela and Laura. Been there, done that, seen it before, it is getting old. Keep your petty squabbles with other board members off this board !! or find another board to do it on. If it is poking fun at other board members who are your friends that is fine just make sure everyone knows it. Forgot this one: IF You have international privileges on your cell phone and it can transmit and receive on the 1800 mHz frequency IT WILL WORK IN CR. Now the rest: Do people actually think when it comes to using a vehicle?? Can’t you get over a little more to the right so other cars can get by especially on side roads. The curb will not damage your tires unless you hit it very hard or remain parked there for extended periods of time. That little lever on the left hand side of the steering column is for SIGNALLING to others on the road you are going to be making a turn: OR for changing lanes if you are on an interstate. Just because you are going down hill DOES NOT mean you have to ride your brakes the entire way. Even if your car is an automatic YOU CAN down shift. Pedestrians ONLY have the right of way IF THEY ARE IN A CROSSWALK. As a pedestrian just because you step off the curb IT DOES NOT MEAN cars have to stop immediately. Bicycles are vehicles to and have to obey the same rules of the road as any other vehicle. The double yellow line is NOT to be crossed. A YEILD sign means slow down and YIELD to oncoming traffic. It does not mean STOP. Most states could save a lot of money on these yield signs because most people don’t know what to do so why use them. Stop signs mean STOP all forward motion and then proceed when it is safe. Coming from Massachusetts they abolished some of these rules because no one was following them anyway. Especially the use of directional signals and crossing the double yellow line. God help me as I am moving back there. I don’t need 12 grocery bags for 24 items and I especially DO NOT need to have my chicken, beef or other carnivore products bagged and then placed in an other bag. They go into the fridge as soon as I get home. So what if my potato(e, for Dan Quayle) chips get broken. Most of them are already broken. The express check out is a misnomer. If you call me and I’m not there, LEAVE A MESSAGE. If you call me using an automated dialer PICK UP. I don’t have the time to waste waiting for you. Your voice response system DOESN’T work and can not understand English, and the selection menus DO NOT apply to why I am calling. Perhaps they are designed to understand people from India as that is where your call goes anyway. Yes, I know I owe you money. What part of un-employed don’t you understand so why do you call me every f^&*ing day. I didn’t have job yesterday, Tuesday, so why is today any different. I know of very few jobs that start mid week and even if they do you won’t receive a pay check for 2 weeks anyway. I bought a product in your store that is out of warranty. STOCK common replacement parts. If that product has replaceable parts and that is its selling point HAVE YOUR DISTRIBUTERS STOCK the replacements. Marketing people are morons and don’t really know what the people want. When I log out of your web site DON’T ask me if that is what I want to do. Why the f*&^ do you think I’m logging out. I’ve done what I wanted to do so I am leaving. Customer service died years ago and it is too expensive to maintain, therefore buy our product and if you have problems buy another one but don’t bother us with your petty problems. If you do not like what your representative or senator is doing DON’T vote for them the next time around. Do some research and vote for the one that will !!!! I’m sure many others have there own pet peeves. ![]() Like I said I just needed to vent. Just be glad it is not intestinal gas I needed to vent. |

1. Posters who use a solemn holiday, meant to honor America's fallen war heroes to bitch about other people's driving, etc. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. ![]() El Ciego, While I share your concern about the lack of respect shown for national holidays in the United States I do not take Patriots post as being disrespectful to the spirit of Memorial Day. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, patriotic holidays in the U.S. are no longer celebrated for the purpose to which they were originated to commemorate. Memorial Day is a prime example. Rather then celebrate it on May 30th, the original date, the politicians in their wisdom ![]() At least here in Costa Rica expat veterans hold a service honoring those veterans who passed away in the past year at the mausoleums owned by the American Legion Escazu Post. Any guys who will be in town next Saturday are not only welcome to attend but are encouraged to turn out and honor those whose service to our country will be recognized. The ceremony will be held at the San Antonio de Ezcazu cemetery at 11:00 A.M. The cemetery is located on the road just before the White House hotel. |

My Grandfather, who I never knew, was killed in World War 1. My uncle, god rest his soul, was wounded storming the beaches at Normandy. My father suffers from a bullet wound to the hip while fighting in Europe. My eldest brother who I hardly knew gave his life in VietNam in the mid 60s. I have an elderly friend whose wisdom comes from fighting at Iwo Jima, the Solomons and Pacific Theater. While in High School I took the time to welcome home some of the men who had fought in VietNam while others degraded them for what they did. My post was not "timed" to coincide with the holiday. Regardless of our own beliefs on war: We Should Honor our Men and Women of the armed forces for the sacrifices they make. They put aside their own ideals and do what they are required to do. El C; You are a friend of mine and always will be. |

I go 100% for honoring and paying respect to those who died or suffered injury in service to the country (how could I not?). I served in the Marines for 6 years and spent 2 years working in a veteran's cemetery. I stop short of memorializing them. These aren't just terms we use--they actually each mean something different. Very few who saw combat anywhere in any role wish to practice the form of idolatry that "memorializing" has come to mean. How for example can you "memorialize" an ugly, squalid friendly-fire death or some meaningless suicide mission designed primarily to boost enemy-death counts? You honor the troopers for being good soldiers and following sometimes nutso orders but "memorialize"" their subsequent death? I don't think so. I don't expect this to be a popular opinion but hey!--Let's memorialize the living by having a better VA or making sure the dependents have good housing, and adequate support services and facilities. And making damned sure there is an overwhelming reason to put military folk in peril. I could add a list of movies here but you get my drift. I'm not anti-war just anti-pointless-war. |
