I read somewhere that the girls are scared, might not be showing up.
is this true?

Post subject:  That's my question too.

That's the question I have been asking, but nobody wants to answer it. They seem to take the attitude, I'm too studley to worry about this, and instead of answering my simple question they go into a debate about the virus itself.

I am not worried about the virus. I am worried about the reaction or panic due to the overexposure of it. Thus I hope you have more success than I have and get an answer to your question.

Lomo,
Speaking only for myself, it wasn't because I didn't WANT to answer it or because I wanted to appear studly INSTEAD of answering it. It was simply because I wasn't DOWN THERE to answer it myself. Frankly, I'm with you. I am not worried about the virus itself, but I am very curious about the social and bureaucratic reaction or panic caused by the virus.

IN FACT, I actually EXPANDED on your question in this thread with this whole set of questions, offering my best guesses on some of them but am still waiting for more definitive answers on the rest by those actually down there:
Quote:
I think the ways this whole thing might affect most of us really lies more in other areas besides the purely medical ones.
1) How will it effect the US economy (and our ability to afford trips to CR)?
2) Will it reduce the number of people that travel (probably) which in turn will lead to lower airfares (probably not since, airfare pricing doesn't really work that way)?
3) Will it mean any hassles or delays passing through immigration when we travel due to increased bureaucracy and heightened screening?
4) Will it lead to reduce the number of mongers traveling to CR (probably) which in turn lead chicas to lower their prices due to decreased demand (perhaps but chica pricing is usually based on even less logic than airfares)?
5) Will it lead chicas to avoid crowded places like the HDR/BM?
6) Will it lead all chicas to practice safer sex (no more DFK's or BBBJ's)?

I haven't been in the HDR, but Sportsman's action has continued unabated. Went trout fishing today south of Cartago and it was life as usual every where we went. I saw one old woman with a blue facemask yesterday. That is the extent of the "panic" here that I have witnessed.

Post subject:  Let me clarify

I apologize to Prolijo, because I wasn't refering to him as the guy who was acting studley .But I have tried to ask this question in some other posting areas and at least a few guys have had the attitude that it's not happening so why should you care about it. But I was a bit taken back when people took the post and instead of answering my question , just started a debate about the virus.

As I said I don't think the virus is going to be a major epidemic and I doubt if I am going to change my mind about that. I see many officials who are monitoring the virus are beginning to agree with this.

I am concerned to how people in CR are responding to the hype concerning the virus, as well as if possible people in LV and the DR, since I am going to be traveling to these places soon and of course I would like to get very close to people in all 3.

I see we have 1 report. I hope to get more reports.

Ah, Lomo, but I AM studly  . Unfortunately, its the nature of forums sometimes for threads to wander. I'm sure no one was deliberately ducking your question or trying to change the subject.

Like you, I take the attitude that the health risk from the virus may have been overblown but that doesn't mean that the issue was necessarily completely irrelevant for other areas. We do travel internationally and engage in activities that some people might think put us (or them) at greater risk, so the THREAT of the virus rather than the virus itself could have had repercussions on what we do. I get it, even if others don't.

As it turns out, based on Pac55's limited report and the general fact that the epidemic seems to be on the wane in Mexico, and won't extend much further everywhere else (at least not until next flu season), I don't think this flu scare will even have much NON-HEALTH related impact on what we do in CR. However, if I were you, I would be more clear about still expecting BBBJ's when negotiating with chicas at least until the scare completely dies down. Perhaps most won't change their services at all, but you never know if you'll get one who was more rattled than others (or is using the flu scare as an excuse for not doing something they didn't really want to do in the 1st place).
