It's December 14th and I have my first 6 trips of 2010 booked/paid for.

It's impossible to care about a gringa relationship for me, not going to happen, not for a long time and I shudder to think of the sheer quality it will take for me to retire from the hobby

My buddies and I have been doing an annual trip to CR since 2005. One guy in our group was sold on CR and was making a couple of trips a year. He was a devoted mongerer and was the champion of the single life.

However, this past year, while preparing to retire, he meets the "gringa" of his dreams. Her family is very well off and they are planning on buying a house together. On our trip in May 2009, he was actually a real stick in the mud. He visited the MPs twice on the first couple of days of our trip but then swore off the life, saying he was in love and he just couldn't do this to her. The guy who used to do three ticas a day on our past visits to CR was now telling us the virtues of fidelity and the joy of being in love!

Well, they break up shortly after we return from the CR trip. He mutters how he wasted the oportunity for a good time with the ladies of CR. Then, lo and behold, when I attend his retirement luncheon in September, they're back together again. I meet her there for the first time and she's classic gringa. Other than her family being loaded, I didn't get it. And it's not like he needs her money because his retirement grosses him over $10,000 a month. She was a "5" by most standards (and more like a "4" by CR standards) and had an obvious air about her. But he says he's happy and they're getting married in 2010. Hey, if he's happy, then more power to him.

This past week, while finalizing details for our March 2010 CR trip, my wingman calls and tells me that the guy has broken up with her again! He's moving out of state, back to where his parents are, but also to get away from her. My wingman says while he talked to the guy, he didn't even mention our next planned trip. This rollercoaster ride the guy is on was making him too hard to predict, and my wingman was worried that he'd be back together with her again by the time we go on our March trip. Then we'd have to hear about practicing celibacy again while drinking in the Del Ray. Try and make that happen!

I don't want to abandon the guy so I'll keep monitoring him. If he's still single in January, I'll approach him and invite him to our trip. The other guys are a little skeptical because they don't want to hear about this seemingly ongoing gringa drama during their annual visit to paradise.

Oh, the mind trips and games that gringas play, eh? Worse yet, falling in their trap and not being able to get yourself out of it.

I think not being interested in the chase is the exact attitude to have to be affective in the chase.

I like the chase from time to time especially if it’s worth it. But those times when you aren't its best to give a little chase then pull away in an effort to say, "you don't chase".

Maybe without even knowing it you will give yourself a sort of mystique that girls wonder about. Just sayin...

I have to agree with this one. Seems when I am actively pursuing my dream woman from Barranquilla, I get mediocre return. But, when I become indifferent my phone rings off the hook and she comes looking for me on MSN. It's just easier and less stressful to bang hookers. And did I mention less expensive? Yeah, I understand being with someone who you really care about. It's an incredible feeling to actually have emotional sex. Not just pounding some piece of flesh. But, I'm getting on the bandwagon of just saying "screw all of em. Let them come to me." Works better this way. The good thing about hookers you can find one available when YOU are available therefore you can live life on your own time frame. My advice to the guy is quit playing the games, tell her to go F' herself (she probably prefers it that anyway) and move on and have some real fun.

May I intereject-Ever since my first trip to Costa Rica I was ruined .I have opportunity's with American girls people cant believe I turn down .They are just different animals then" Out of country Latinas" .

The more I travel the more distant I am from any type of connection with an american woman . Now I have been cursed even more ..I just Returned from Colombia yeah Medellin ... Those sweet sweet girls with that Jet Black hair so thin but so curvy .. they are reserved and shy but in the cama they turn into wildcats .. Just once that switch is flipped hold on baby . That place is toxic and addicting ..I cant stop thinking about it Im truly Fu**ed .

Tomorrow I have a date with a very sweet ,thin cutie my age I met online .. The whole time Ill be thinking of those Paisa's and checking airfares for another adventure ..Those jet black princesa'a so polite and sweet .so tender ..No over 40 american woman can ever come close to that kind of experience .. NEVER yeah im screwed or maybe Im Blessed? Sometimes I think its better If I didnt know .

I asked a similar thing awhile back.
I'm personally quite a bit younger then the majority of guys here, so I find myself even more flustered with the whole thing at times.

But I agree with Cujo; the chase is fun every once in awhile. I just draw the line at a certain point. I'm not totally out against gringa's. I've met, and dated lots that I at the very least felt had potential. While some tend to have a ton of attitude and expectations, I think a healthy offering of them are willing to listen and do it your way.

I usually just start second guessing myself. Ill be with a girl, and all of a sudden we'll be out for dinner and movies and Im thinking "Oh phuck, I just spent 60$ on this shit, thats a LT in Thailand!" The gringa is going to phuck, but its just not the same. Its like it will happen when she wants it to, rather then what I want it to.

I get lost in the my way or no way mentality.

Just the opposite. Many years, looking for the right gal, chasing, impressing. Since CR, I started to not give a sh-t about the gringa population... A few raises at work later, they do the chase.

Now that I've been visiting CR for years, they don't stand a chance for the long term they want and subsequently "work to impress"... simply a little night-time practice awaiting my next CR trip!

I have a different outlook. For the last 3 years I've had a mexicana novia here, stateside. She enjoys sex, when I want it, cooks great, is always on time and never, ever complains about me. Fortunately I speak fluent Spanish. When I see hot gringas, I almost look away. They're a turnoff, but my mexicana is great and I'll always lean toward the latinas. CR did that to me! Point is, it exists stateside, but you have to go latin.

Just got back from the states. I only saw two women who meet my standards and neither were Gringa. If you are ever in Miami you should get CRT brother MiamiHeller to introduce you to his Venezolana niece. My novia and other friends in San Jose know how to take care of me and the cost is miniscule compared to what Gringas expect. When in the states I carry a book of photos with me to remind me of what my standards have risen to. Age 35 is pushing the limit. Nothing fat or with attitude. Must like to party and have fun.
