Post subject:  advice about Dr. Chen

I went to see Dr. Chen today about having a crown done. He seemed to be really shaky. Would like some advice from someone that he has worked on. Thanks

DR. Kaver is the only game in town.

IMHO, "really shaky" is an understatement. Next time try doing a search:

Dr Chen USED to get almost universally good reviews. More recently a string of bad experiences have been reported by various people (including myself). In some of those cases, those bad reviews were by people who were initially quite pleased with Dr. Chens services, but who later found his work to be substandard or inadequate (e.g. filling in over dental decay that was not completely removed, fillings that fall out a few days after going in, root canals that fail etc.). To be fair, Dr. Chen still has his adherents, but IMHO with so many tico dentists with steadier hands, just as low prices and far less "shaky" reviews, why take any chances with Dr. Chen?

Check elsewhere. The last place you want dental work is from a questionable dentist.

All the work he did for me was horrible. Had to be redone. Don't waste your time on something so valuable.

Don't do it!

Dr. Chen is a good man, no doubt. But my experience over the last two years has led me to seek another Dentist. The last vistit in July of '08 I had him replace a crown he put on in April of '08, the replacement popped off on the plane trip back stateside. He never responded to my phone calls or emails thereafter   :(

I wish him good health if in fact he is dealing with some illness. He has served in a most charitable manner for the poor of SJO, and would hope he be rewarded much kinder by the Supreme power of his choice.

I've been asking around about dentists too, and have pretty much heard what's being echoed here.

Next! Oh wait, that's for something else.
