Did not see it mentioned here. But HBO Latin has been playing a movie called "Cumbia Callera." The entire movie is set to Cumbia background and a hot chica. The cumbia is not quite the same as what we hear at the KL but the movie is great for anyone "homesick" for CR. And although the actress is not a Tica, she looks and acts like one. Reminds me of an MP girl. Good sex scenes too. VIVA LA CUMBIA!

PURA VIDA! :

Never heard of the term Cumbia so looked it up:

Cumbia is a Colombian musical style and folk dance that is considered to be representative of Colombia, along with Vallenato. Cumbia originated from the Caribbean coast of Colombia, with closely related variants existing today in Panama.

Cumbia began as a courtship dance practiced among the slave population that was later mixed with European instruments and musical characteristics. It was also used during the Colombian struggle for independence as an expression of resistance against Spain.

A "Courtship" Dance...........?????? YEAH............

I have actually heard the best Cumbia and seen the best CUmbia dancers right here in CR. Even better than Colombia if that is imaginable. Now, I don't know about Nica, Ecuador, or Peru. Perhaps better?

I missed the first 20 minutes or so but watched this last Friday night. Interesting flick. Not much dialogue so you can actually follow most of it. The girl is a cutie (some nice nude scenes) and the music will get you moving your hips (especially watching her dance through out the movie).

Here is the synopsis from IMDB:
Framed by the high mountain chains that surround the city of Monterrey (Mexico), three youngsters live passions and dilemmas, roaming between the steep slums and the luxury districts, crowned by the irresistible rhythm of the "colombia regiomontana"

I was curious as to why the two guys ended up in the video dude's house with her. If anyone wants to explain that to me I would appreciate it.

I dance cumbia here in the US all the time with my Mexican GF. It's very popular in northern Mexico, so popular that Monterrey has at least one radio station totally dedicated to Cumbia music. The Mexican style is very close to salsa, in that it's a 1-2-3 beat and you can do the same step from one to the other. In CR they call it suin, for swing, and it's done somewhat like a jitter bug, with a step left, step right and a back step on the left foot, which is when you see them sort of shaking hands (I took lessons in CR). Dancing with the chicas is one of my favorite passtimes at the DR (second to the other great passtime!). I'm going to have to try to buy the movie.

...As long as this Krazy Kut-up only puts "k"'s at the beginngs of words, it can be read through. But to be consistent, shouldn't it be Cosher Kowboy? And is Kinky Friedman really posting here? What a governor he'd have made! Back to you, Chet.
