Just got my Tico Times, dated Dec 19, "Slump Worse Than Expected"
the third paragraph,
"Construction, manufacturing and the hotel sector have suffered most this year, according to the Central Bank's economic actvity index." Inside a contin. of the article Elvia Campos cites lower tourism. :?

OK, when I go visit in Jan 09 the hotels are going drop their rates, and the chicas at the Dr and KL will no longer ask for cien, the first words out of their mouth..LOL  :)

It can't be that bad. Most hotels are raising their rates in 2009 and chicas have been asking for $100-300 an hour.

Maybe (hopefully) it will only take them greedy Ticos 2 weeks into the new year to realize they are overpriced . I'm sorry but I refuse to pay $100-$140/night for a western style hotel down there. Luckily the hotels more aligned to our desires don't seem too out of price yet but the chica prices crazy bad. And everything else like 70% US costs??

I would think that chica prices would be coming down. They were pretty easy to get down in price back in Nov. Seems to me less tourists equal less chance of making money. There can only be so many nights walking out empty handed before the rents due or the Babi*s gotta eat.

A change of expectations (pricing) takes time... it lags behind reality. If you look at real estate asking prices and compare them to prices of actual sales, you can see it in action. Assuming that there are fewer mongers and those mongers have less to spend, it will take time before this filters down into actual (asking) price reductions. Old mindsets die hard. Girls will say that business is shitty, but it will take time before they realize that it's not some temporary phenomenon and decide to try to undercut each other on price. They realize better than the customers how a sale is made. We mongers can gripe all we want about high prices, but I can't say I know a single monger who shops for poontang on price alone. A pretty girl with a good attitude who asks $100 will always outdo the ugly one with a shitty attitude who will settle for $20.

Eventually the top tier girls may end up cutting prices, but I can see a six month lag, minimum, before economic reality begins to have an effect. If you look at CR real estate prices, people are asking more here than they could get in the USA. Realism may return to real estate, and even panocho, but it won't happen overnight. Unless I am mistaken...

Good point, Bilko. An attractive chica with a GREAT attitude and a good business model will command a higher price everytime from eager mongers. Most of the girls "just don't get it".......and need to get with the program. For me, an attractive chica is important....but attitude, even moreso.

My same thoughts, perhaps some one can give us a current evaluation of quality and price at the DR and KL.

I'm more than willing to pay for quality.

While it's true you can get girls for $50 pretty easily, I find i'm never satisifed with those girls. They know they're worth more than that, and they think they're getting screwed, so they (figuratively) screw us back with crappy service.

Hopefully, this slump will weed out the fat, lazy chicas in the Del Rey that just catch the crumbs falling off the table...

So what do you think is the going rate for quality? Does your negotiation include the time of the session, how many pops, etc.? Thanks!

I paid a Tica $300 for about 6 hours a little over a week ago...not because that's what she asked for but that's what I felt she was worth and because I could afford it. She was worth every F*cking penny too!!!

I also sessioned at NF several times and scored with 2 SL girls for lots less and although all the sessions were great the $300 Tica was TOTALLY Memorable and will NEVER be forgotten. She was THAT good!!

I pay cien for a quality girl, and by quality i mean not a clock watcher, very affectionate, a true GFE.

It's funny, but i've never had a girl i wanted a second pop with have a problem with it. I've never negotiated it, nor have I ever brought time into the negotiation. If she's a clock watcher, I just won't enjoy the session, so it's kind of a moot point.

I will do my part to lower chica prices next week. Please dont warn them. I am returning to the days when I always countered their first offer with forty $40.00. Only the hottest ones. I like to see the look on their faces when I counter. To die for.

All I can do to not burst out laughing when they walk a way pissed off at the thought that I would do it.

after hearing forty. Eighty sounds a lot more palatable.

50

I am planning to visit San Jose in May. My favorite hotel, LaAmstad, has raised their room rates 56%. Business must be good. Thinking about going to el Salvador instead. Looks like the economic downturn is not affecting Costa Rica.
