To my surprise, all my pain has gone away last night and been all good today.
A few days ago, my dentist said that I may need a root canal but I wasn't carzy about paying $1000 (for a root canal & crown), so he gave me antibiotics in case it was just a nerve infection. He told me they would kick in in a few days, so I guess the antibiotics worked.
Here's a muy gringo moment:
That $1000 he wants me to pay is the price
WITH insurance. My co-insurance is 40% for major dental work and based on the contracted rates they have with the insurance co. my part is $1000. Which means they get another $1500 from the insurance.
Just out of curiosity, I asked what it would be without insurance, he says $900.

I just looked at him for a second without saying a word to see if he would realize what he just said. When I asked how could that be, he said that cash patients would never pay that much. But since I have insurance I HAVE TO pay according to the contractual rate.
Since he already gets $1500 from the insurance, and cash patients only pay $900, I shouldn't have to pay a dime and should be getting a $600 refund.
I need to find a new dentist.
