Nice mashup. I know I'm showing my age but still like the original better. Not that it was always better then...But the newer dub/dancehall reggae doesn't do much for me either. 25 years after it started, I'm starting to reconcile hip-hop elements in jazz but that's just me. |

I was fortunate enough to see Sergio perform, probably in his prime. It was in the mid 1970's and I saw him perform at the Troubador in Los Angeles (that's when Great talent played there compared to the Garbage there today). I remember there was a black guy that played the berimbau along with 15 other instruments and he brougt the house down. Great Memories. |

Mighty glad the Northern Brazillian harder-edged Bossa Nova sound (exemplified by organist Walter Wanderly) wasn't more popular in the States or they'd be mucking about with that too. Needless to say I hit the "bozo button" when the original on the clip ended.>>the old curmudgeon/JazzboCR |
