Post subject:  How Much Time To Write and Post

Had it happen a couple of times now. I hunt and peck to enter and seem to loose my post if it is rather lengthy. How much time does this site allow before your post gets whipped off into limbo ?

G..... it was 13 minutes, but I think that's been extended to 15. I said... I think.

To solve the problem... easily... after I write something of length I highlight everything and copy it to my clipboard. If everything disappears when I hit submit I can paste everything back in and the problem is solved.

I'll have to figure out how to do this cut and paste function. I have written and lost several lenghty trip reports cause I timed out...Very frustrating.

El Viejo,

Happens all the time.

Highlight your text - then right click your mouse - click on the word "copy" in the pop-up menu> this will save everything you highlighted to your clipboard.

To paste it back simply place the curser where you want the text to go - right click the mouse again and click on the word "paste" in the pop-up menu.

That's it.

Another very easy way to avoid the lose that works for me is to simply click on 'preview' every few minutes, check what you have written for errors, then move down till the box where you write the post comes back up and continue to type. Seems to restart the time each time I do this and also helps me correct my many errors

Happened to me a couple times also. At first I would type it in Word then paste in but then figured out you can submit what you have before you feel it won't let you then go back in and edit (add to) what you previously posted. Works nicely!

See I'm now typing this sentence after the above was already submitted!!! :D :D

Please don't make your posts too long. Just kidding.

YO time limit:

Shit, old Circus doesn't use word or stuff like that. If I have anything to say I just start typing. And yes, most of the worthless stuff I ramble on about never makes it to the forum. Lucky for you hombres. I did have an attempted post on directions to possibly a hundred year old and abandoned gold claim in southern CR but this damn thing limited me out. Problem is by the time it did.....I forgot the directions. Lo Siento. Pitiful is as pitiful does.

You can also Highlight your text, then hold CRTL button down while hitting the "C" button.

Then you can, if you have to because you lost your text, hold down CRTL and hit the "V" button

If you get timed out,it means that you talk too much.Try writing shorter posts.

Vegas Bob gives good advice (no, I don't mean this to be aimed at only the present circumstance--but overall). Mouthy Me also writes out longer one's first rather than trying to compose at the keyboard. But writing a bit, posting, then editing later to add content can also work. I know not keyboard gimmick 1 so have to use these 2 work-arounds, as well as the Previewing trick.
