Has anyone unlocked and used the iphone in costa rica yet?

I have Jail Break'd mine but have not taken it to costa rica yet. I was wondering how it worked down there possibly renting another sim chip and if I could still use the WiFi if I had another sim chip in it. I used my I-Pod Touch on my last trip and had a supprisingly large ammount of places that I had wifi at.

I am definitely taking it! I was just a little apprehensive about renting a chip at $10 a day not even knowing if it will work. I stay at Zona Blue so there is always WiFi.

I have one if those skype wifi phones that I used on my last trip which worked out very well. What I would like to do is forward my phone to the skype phone number and then forward that number to the costa rican number on my iphone. I already use CallWave for faxing so I get faxes straight to my email VIA PDF format.

I made a trip last halloween and no one ever knew I left the country.

as for the quote, that is from the Song called cherry pie. they also have one about britney spears:

I wouldn't Mind phucking britney spears
In a cheap motel with those ceiling mirrors
I'll tell you what, In a couple of weeks
I'd have her hooked on crack rock, working the streets!

Those are some fine lyrics from a great band

Yes it works, I have mine working perfectly. The phone just need to be jailbroken and of course, needs to be unlocked.

With this you can use an ICE (local cellphone service provider) SIM card to make and receive calls.

If you have any problem, just let me know.

Another option is www.celtrek.com which offers .29 calls to the US from CR. It's a "prepaid" sim chip that works here. it's .37 for local calls though, which is a lot unless you don't plan to spend $10 on calls.
