Post subject:  30 or 90 Days Maximum Panama Tourist Stay?

A year or two ago when a U.S. citizen went to Panama as a tourist immigration allowed a 90 day stay. I read a few months ago that the government changed that to a maximum stay of 30 days. Even more recently I read that the government was in the process of trying to get it changed again to the previous 90 days, because they felt it was discouraging people from coming to Panama.

Any information on this would be appreciated.

When I was there in November it was 30 days (previous trips it had always been 90). I am going there again in about 2 weeks so I'll let you know what they stamp in my passport.

It is currently 90 days. Some airlines however seem to have the old forms that state 30 days, so you may want to double check that before you sign and hand it in at immigration.

There was a new immigration law past that takes effect I believe in August and it will have several different categories, ie. tourist, multiple repeat tourist, perpetual tourist. I haven't heard many details, but would love to know more if someone has any info.
