What does a police person and security guards make a month?
If anyone really knows, I'm curious.

I have a friend in CR who owns a private security company that provides guards for various businesses, including formerly the SL.

He pays his guys 90 cents to $1 per hour. Most employees get $250 to $300 per month, considering they work a billion hours a week.

Last month I met a FUERZA PUBLICA officer. A 17 year veteran of the force, currently a "shift supervisor." A very nice man. He told me he was married and had [I think] 4 Ch*ldren. He showed me where he had taken a thru and thru bullet wound to the chest from a .38 SPECIAL several years ago. It took him one year to recover from this, at which time he was off work. He told me he earns the equivalent of $450 per month.

That sounds about right.

Why you think there are so many crooked cops out there?

That is one of the main reasons why so few cops join. Low salary and they risk their lifes for nothing.

They make roughly half of what you pay, the other half goes to the house.

Yes a popular MP girl, at a 5 star mp (ZB,NF, Idem), can easily make more than the average BM/KL girl. They also operate in a much safer environment but also have more onerous work rules to follow not to mention wear & tear.

Every girl has to make a choice that fits their comfortable level.

I have lived in quite a few countries. One thing you have to keep in mind is wages are relative to cost of living. A cheap apartment where I live is around $900. I am told you can get a decent place for around $200 in San Jose. So please don't operate on the idea they "make so little". This is a common, and bad argument made by newbie expats and US labor groups.

$200 and you are living in a place you will have no desire to be in. My hometown of Richmond, Va is usually near the median costs for the US. A nice average 2 bedroom apartment in a good but not great area is $700 to $1,000 back home. The equivalent here is $500 to $700. Even the guys who live in San Pedro and downtown are all paying way more than $200 a month.

MrlasVegas,

From your comments you have obviously never lived in Costa Rica. I do, and I will assure you that yes there are Tico apartments that can be rented for $200 and less. BUT most of those, YOU would not even go into the neighborhood much less into the apartment. I live in a nice (not elegant) condo in San Pedro and pay $450. But more importantly especially for the Ticos trying to live on around $300 amonth is the price of other necesities. Except for fresh veges and fruit, food cost MORE here than in the states. The fast food (American) resturants are 20% higher here than in the states. A car is 50 to 75 % higher than the same car in the states. Gas is almost the same. Clothing is about 25-50% less usually. Medical and drugs are about 50-75% less.

In other words the average cost of living here depends on how you live but for the average Tico; Yes they live in one of those $200 houses out of necessity; they eat rice and beans and very little meat; they use the bus, many work 2 jobs or very long hours, live in that house with many other extended family members, all working and contributing to the costs, and have very little that you and I take for granite in our daily lives.

Now as for the comments about the chicas: Contrary to popular opinion, except for a small handfull of the absolute top chicas in the Rey/KL/ SL, the independants, average 1-2 negocios per week. I am welll aware that many of you do not believe that, BUT I know a lot of these chica personally as friends and I dated on of them for a year, and I will promise you 1-2 per week is a very accurate figure for 90+% of the chicas. and the average price is $60-$80, not $100.

As for the MP chicas; many of them could do very well in the REY/KL, but choise to work in MPs because of the security, more stable income, less drama, less involment with the client, and in many cases much more total income. ZB, NF, Idem (the higher price places) do only give the chicas around 50-60%. In all the low rent places, the house only keeps around c2000 and the chica gets the rest. If their share is c6ooo for a 1/2 hour session and the do 6-8 per day. that is 36000- 48000 per day and a lot more than the average in the REy.
