Hi fellow mongers, So here is my question, I am going to CR in a couple of weeks for the weekend, my wingman is my wife, she likes hot girls as much as I do. he thing is she is (get this) a hot Colombiana, )and nope, I did not meet her in CR or Colombia, she was just a nice girl who I met in the good ol' USA and she was is an English speaking American citizen and all) this is HER first time to CR. My question is, will the hotels and bars and MP give us a hard time since she looks like the rest of them, will they make her show ID and treat her like a working girl? If so what can I do o prevent that? I would feel awful bad if they started to ask her for her ID card when she comes in the front door? |

At the Blue Marlin etc she will be considered a working girl when she comes thru the door. Have the passport ready. |

The hotel won't be an issue once you check her in. MP's don't ask for ID. |

Have both of your passports copied, with the date stamp, in the place diagonally across the street from the Presidente, and then leave the originals in the safe at your hotel. It is very inexpensive. Both of you would do better by having your copied passports, on your person, at all times anyway. |

Yes, there is a very good chance that she will be initially looked upon as a "working girl". What can you do about it? Probably nothing. If she gets hassled you can show them her wedding ring and tell them "Elle es mi esposa". Then walk away. In 2000 I took my Colombian wife to the Dominican Republic on vacation. As we went through immigration and she showed her Colombian passport the agent remarked "Ah, Colombiana" in a derogotory tone even though I was standing with her. It's just something you'll have to deal with. |

Interesting situation. Maybe also to get some freebies from an embarrassed business. If she is mistaken or treated as a working girl, go absolutely psycho and demand to speak to the general manager. Make a scene screaming that your wife is an American phucking citizen and how dare they assume. Might work for a free night or a couple of dinners.. |

I have seen this happen more than once in HDR. It is rather sad that I had to meet with some nice looking Ticas who would never think of P4P but once in the gulch they were scrutinized like they were working Ticas ![]() ![]() |

It's just something you'll have to deal with. As much as some would like to believe being colombian and having a colombian passport does not put you in high regards in fact it puts you pretty much in the lowest echelon of all nationalities for those that work ICE, security, police, immigration etc, only some CRT brothers hold the colombians in high esteem but the rest of the world pretty much frowns on them and DOES NOT WANT THEM IN THEIR COUNTRY. Me personally I like the colombianas, but only the ones living in Colombia, the ones in CR are pretty hit or miss and most often mercernary in nature (I can read people very well.. its a gift, and the majority of the colombianas in CR have very negative energy... a bad frequency/vibe so to speak, as opposed to those who live in Colombia who for the most part have positive energy, been going to both countries 8 years now). Most of the ones living outside colombia and its 9% GDP smoking economy are the trash of their nation that has been kicked to the curb by their country for very good reasons, excepting for those in the US. For example I would guess Doggys wife is upper class and not one of those cases, but she got into the US which is damn tough to do as a colombian unless you are educated, rich or willing to serve in the army. |

If staying at the DR,check her in and get her a room key. It won't solve all potential problems but it will help. |

That is an excellent solution stay at the DR and check her in, you will have no problems if she is a guest. Plus she will get a kick out of staying there. |

I don't see what all the fuzz is about. The most a security guard will do at HDR is check her ID to make sure she is over 18, other than that they don't really care about her favorite color, nationality, or if she's married to a gringo. All she has to do is carry ID and she will have no problem whatsoever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If I lived each day as if it were my last I would have been dead a long time ago." - Traylor Park |

My wife is a fair-skinned blond with blue eyes. We stayed at the DR together, and security stopped a few times until they began to recognize her. We were welcomed warmly at ZB and NF. |
