Post subject: | A Name for the Ch*ldren's Fund |
It is time for the foundation/fund for the Ch*ldren to be given a name. We are at the point of donations at the SL that Johanna needs to start a bank account. I have heard much from many about the plus, and minus, of having CRT/Sportsmens Lodge in the name. It appears that most believe it not to be a good idea, due to the possible rejection of the donations coming from mongers. Brothers, this is not about me, but about all of us giving money/support to others in CR. It matters not if you choose to give support, or money. We need both, and your input. I am going to list three options, winner take all. The first option is Santas Bros Ch*ldren's Fund- These gifts are from all the CRT Bros (hence the s on Bro), and by no means an effort on my part to take any glory for this. It's just so far, this was in the lead. The second option is CRT/Sportsmens Lodge Ch*ldren's Fund or some derivative. (With Bill & Admin1's approval, of course) The third option, A completely Different Name; I would appreciate it if others who feel the same, as the option posted, would note that in their posts. I have no energy about what this is called. It is about all of us helping some K*ds who really need it. It is a group effort, and I want the name to be reflective of what the group wishes. Thank you all so much for the response to this cause. We will be able to do some wonderful things for the Ch*ldren of CR. The choice will be made after Stuperbowl, in case you may want to discuss it while you are there, with other CRT members. Health & happiness to all: Steve - Santas Bro |

Steve, when I proposed "The Santa's Bro Foundation" it was not to honor you, although you deserve some credit for coming up with a great idea. You just happen to have the perfect moniker for this endeavor, in my opinion. I don't think any of us are looking for "glory" from this; just the chance to help some little ones who have had no input into their situation. By keeping CRT out of the title, we may be able to avoid a spotlight that we just don't need and I can't think of a better title. For a little while, anyone who participates can be Santa's Bro. Thanks again for a good idea! ![]() |

Santas Bros Ch**drens Fund sounds like a winner to me. I am moved by the compassion, empathy and willingness of the members of this board to help these Ch*ldren even though we might be considered morally challenged by folks outside of our hobby. |

As an origional supporter and as one who suggested looking to help this orphanage, I would like to offer this comment. I voted for the Santas Bro name, but really think it will be in everyones interest to keep this as low key as possible. Much of Costa Rican society probably understands that our recreational activities in CR are supportive of their economy and even helps many mothers feed their offspring and pay their rent, but they will never admit it. That said, if it becomes very public that a group of mongers are giving a large donation to an orphanage, it may cause the orphanage to refuse the donation to avoid embarrasment or unwelcome publicity. I suggest leaving the CRT out of it. Not looking for conflict here. Just looking to avoid a problem. |

I could not agree more with Pac55 & Gringo. I like Santa's Bros. Like they put it, the people know that we help the economy and help single mothers. But they won't admit it publicly. This is still a Roman Catholic country. So we son't want to put the orphanage in the position of badly needing the money and not being able to accept it. I will be putting mine in the pot when I hit town at the end of February. |
