Title: The Hedonist
Author: Brett Tate

Review: Excellent read from cover to cover. I have read it 50 times over. No lie. Look it up on Amazon.com

It's got several countries from known (rio, dr, bkk, ams) to lesser known (sjo, argentina, st.maarten, aruba) and more. Everything from visa requirements, best time to go, non-monger activities, climate, what to tell the wife, mongering game plans for each destination.

The book is a funny and exciting read.

The book was last updated 2004. I have been doing searches for the author to see if I can contact him regarding any newer revised editions but he can't be found.

Either way it's a great book to have in your library (or not).

Nah you wouldn't find this in a bookstore (at least I'm pretty sure you won't). I got it from amazon.com. The book isn't cheap (17.50us) . It's great to have though.

I ordered the book a couple of years ago from Amazon.com. The author ships the book direct to you; Amazon just processes the order.

Overall, it's helpful advice for the new monger. The author makes a lot of general points about the hobby made on this board (don't pay upfront, don't fall in love, etc.) City-by-city advice is OK, but even in 2006 some of the club-specific information was a little bit out of date. It is a fun read, and worth the $17-20 for a "rookie" like I was then.
