I would normally post this in the VIP section but I think this thread should be started where it has more visibility.

I've been away from the board for a bit and I'm trying to catch up on some reading. The subject of cien never seems to die on this board and I feel the effort on spending cien or not is wasted.

Recently I read that if we all stopped paying cien that it would eventually bring prices down. I tend to agree with Pac55 that we comprise a small portion of the mongers in CR. So in essence what we do collectively as a group would have some impact, but nothing significant.

Instead of playing auctioneer over some red bull and vodka with the chicas taking the lowest bid; shouldn't the emphasis be on the experience?

I mean I don't think I'm out of line here for saying the difference between $80 and $100 is nothing. But I understand that isn't the point. But whatever the point is, my retort would be to negotiate what kind of experience will be had not 20 bucks.

Maybe if time and more services was the focal point, the better off we would all be. I'm not going to ramble about my negotiations, but after I'm done with them I feel the least I could do for them is give cien.

So learn Spanish boys, get the most time and services you can for your buck. Once accomplished, "cien" should almost be standard in your mind as well....

Jad i think your on to something here.Making time and service the focal points seems to make more sense to me as well. After a mind blowing session the chica should be rewarded for keeping her end of the deal.Mis dos centavos.

I agree. Cien is relative. If she stays for hours and gives you a couple "goes" then it's reasonable.

IMO, I don't think the problem is (or ever was) paying cien to a chica. I think the problem is paying cien to a chica por uno hora.

Personally, I don't have a problem paying cien (or more), as long as we have some chemistry, we both enjoy our time together, and we play around for a few hours, or for a TLN.

When playing the game, I have always used the "amount of satisfaction" as the unit-of-measure, versus the "amount of compensation". Of course, YMMV.

BTW, good thread Cujo!

IMHO, this rehash is really about newbies and those that are surfing the site. It is better to hear the most recent opinions than to go back a few years or any amount of time to get the info from people that, perhaps, are not even posting on the board anymore. Further, I believe that it is more relevant now with the devaluation of the dollar against the colones. If one is tired of a subject, one has to only ignore it. I probably open up two out of ten threads that are posted.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Ok... Dave. I guess this thread is a "little" different than the rest based on the quote below....

A thread promoting cien... that's a different twist.

Very good Berk, another thread discussing cien when the premise of the thread is to ask why are we even worried about it.

Yea that's it I'm promoting cien. Way to decipher that

I think there are 2 types of mongers. Those that like women and enjoy their company and those that do not.

Those that enjoy the company of women look for more out of the experience than just getting laid.

Those that do not car so much for the company of women just care about getting off for the cheapest price.

I enjoy women and their company and I second everything in MG post.

I have been on this board for about a year and by my observations, to cien or not to cien seems to be part of the game as much as it is about fcuking.

If I get on a plane and travel for eight hours, haggling over $20 to fcuk is pretty small to me. I talked to a guy once who bragged about taking the bus from the SJO airport and that it took 1.5 hours but it was only about $2.50 rather than paying $18 to the orange taxis. I'm sorry, this is not a savings to me.

Anyone on this board who is self-employed understands how valuable one's time is. I bill out my professional services anywhere from $50 to $150 per hour in the USA. I'm not about to spend an extra hour on a bus in CR to save $16 nor haggle with a chica I really want to Phuck to save $20. If I am going to pay a mechanic $80+/hour to work on my car I don’t have a problem paying a hottie $100/hour to Phuck me – regardless of the average wage of her homeland.

I think for the newbies, the thrill is partaking in the endless options in the candy store. Once that newness wears off, the sport of negotiation takes over.

In the end, even if the CRT membership collectively decides to never pay cien again, I don't think it will make much difference. The Presidente Hotel doesn't bow down to our influence and I don't think the chicas will either.

As long as someone (call him a sucker) is willing to pay $100 or more for the chica, her price is reasonable.

We are all about free market competition back in the USA but then we visit CR and expect the rules to be different. We bitch about the collective bargaining power of the labor unions back home but have we not created our own price-fixing union in CR? – or at least tried to..?

Realize that the cien is a psycological threshold in price and that trying to overcome it is as much about ego as anything else. Maybe deep down we all think that the chica should want to be with us so we think that if we accept her asking price it somehow detracts from the personal aspect of the transaction. We want a deal because we think that if we get a great deal it is because she wanted us more than the next drooling slob in line behind us....???

I went to CR five times in 2007 and had maybe 10 chica sessions out of the DR/KL. If I paid each $100 rather than $80 that's a mere $200 total over those five trips.

I'm not inclined to sweat the $200.

Maybe I’m just fed up with people who always want to negotiate. In my business nearly every client I talk to bitches about my expected fee so I lower it a little to show good faith. Often, once I finish the job and present the final invoice and the finished product, the client again tries to renegotiate the fee after already having agreed to a price. This is very tiresome. I don’t want to negotiate. I dare say that I am one of the best in my specific field of service. I can be a little cocky sometimes. If you want me to do your work, you need to pay me what I expect. If you want to pay less, then hire a lesser person and hope you get a good job. I always give my best effort to every client and always produce good results. I have no problem paying top dollar for the same.

I have a little bit of sympathy for the DR chicas who think they are at the top of their game and would rather go home than take your $80 for a Phuck. There are sometimes that I give up a job because someone doesn’t want to pay what I expect. Too bad for them. I don’t need the money so I won’t take their crappy offer. They can take their chances with someone who can’t afford to have the attitude I have. There is a reason why there are people who don’t have my attitude – some of them are new and hungry yet qualified and some are experienced yet incompetent. It is not my problem to sort that out. I know that if a customer hires me he will get a good job – period. I know that if he goes elsewhere he is as likely as not to get screwed or at least a phucked up job.

Why do you people think mongering is any different? You marvel that chicas would rather go home with nothing than compromise on price. I say kudos to her and “get a clue” to the monger. If the chica would rather go home broke than take $60 to Phuck your smelly ass, then maybe that should tell you something? Why hold it against her. :?: She has her price….If your neighbor saw you on a sunny afternoon drinking beer and grilling steak on your deck and said “hey, since you are just sitting there, how about I pay you $6/hour to ride my lawn tractor around and cut the grass?” You’d think he was a jackass and (by the CRT no-cien attitude) he would think you were stupid for opting to make $0 for sitting on your ass when you could at least make $30 on your Sunday afternoon. Stupid phucking gringo, why sit and watch football for 6 hours when you could pocket $40 for riding a loud, smelly, obnoxious machine for six hours ..?. These chicas are often asked to ride a loud, obnoxious, and smelly machine.......... :!:

 It is all about supply and demand in the end. Get it?

I agree. The only thing that would happen would be a long line of sad CRT's waving bye bye to chicas leaving with other gringos.

Great post.

I just got done spending 4 days with a Columbiana that I have come to be close friends with. I learned a lot.

The Columbianas don't give a damn about CRT. They know about us, but we are basically considered cheapskates and they are not interested in doing business with us anyway.

There are no shortage of guys with real money that come through the DR all the time that are not afraid to throw their money around in search of a good time. Guys that think that CTR has any influence with the chicas are spitting in the wind.

Not only are these guys spending a $100 an hour, they are dropping $100 tips.

I think it breaks down even further than that, Kcc.

I think there are those who are comfortable in the company of women. Guys who have had enough experience and success with women to expect women's games, listen to their stories, and not to be flabbergasted by the fact that they are illogical.

Other guys are just not comfortable around women. They are much more comfortable in the company and camaraderie of men. They have had either less experience or lots of experience but they would probably rate most of their experiences as "unsuccessful" or unhappy in the long run. They don't come to CR to try to deal with women's crap. They want it straight forward and logical, I pay this and get that and the less I pay to get that the better.

Neither is right or wrong, they just see things differently. Hence the endless discussion.

Monger "A" may think that trying to connect on other than a purely fiduciary level pays big dividends. For him, it most certainly does, for a fact, no doubt

Monger "B" may think it is all about the money and his best shot is to get the negotiation over up front and go for the lowest price possible because the ride is going to be the same whether he pays $100 or barters her down to $60. For him, that may be the absolute fact, the way it is, amen.

I guess the real question is, which way do you want to roll? Monger "B" can learn to be more like Monger "A" and Monger "A" can certainly take time out for a quick nameless "B" type phuck.

Just my $.02.

KC, you realize that they're Colombianas from Colombia, not Columbianas from Columbia don't you?
