Post subject: | Is New Years Eve Amateur Night? Or am I missing out? |
I admit to staying in on New Years for the following reasons: 1.I was supposed to be in Sousa DR, but changed plans at the last minute and postponed the trip until JetBlue offers direct service into Puerto Plata. The rescheduling costs me 100 bucks, but a cab ride to and from would have cost me about 2 hundred, so it worth it to do so. 2.I never really have a good time going to a party and not drinking. What with so many cops on the road and the use of roadblocks or checkpoint, a DUI is a real possibility and it might as well be a felony conviction with the crap that the police put you through. 3.The Amateur Night Experience: We see examples of it with a different spin in the DR when a newbie show up. Everything is done to excess in the pursuit of making the holiday memorable, but the clown often over does it and punks on his shoes. 4.I normally plan not to party on holidays I consider to be prone to the Amateur Night Experience such as New Year Eve, St. Paddies Day, Halloween, Madre Gras, the 4th of July etc. 5.The best times I have spent on holidays just worked out that way. For instance, a one night stand who doesn’t want to spend NYE alone comes over to share her womanly charm with me on the spur of the moment versus the time a hunting buddy and I planned to go to Boys Town from his hunting camp near Nuevo Laredo on NYE, just to find out most of the hookers went home for the holidays and those that were left were doing assembly line type business. 6.It seems like New Years Eve is almost a strictly couples experience and that if you aren’t with someone, you are in the minority. I imagine this harkens back to lots of chicks insuring they get a date for NYE? 7.It’s like your birthday. You are supposed to be happy you are another year older? I don’t know, maybe I am just a party pooper, but holidays like that just don’t hold a lot of magic or meaning for me. Any thoughts on the matter? All that having been said, I would like to wish everyone a Happy & Prosperous New Year ![]() ![]() |

I completely agree with your synopsis. I have a brand new bottle of Centenario Especial XX that I offered to share with my brother who lives about 20 miles away. Problem is that it is too far for a taxi and neither of us will drink and drive (NYE or any other day). We will commiserate on the phone while I harass my compadres on CRT tonight, sipping my XX by myself. ![]() |

![]() That's different from any other night? Michelob Ultra for me tonight. Gotta keep my girlish figure for the Thai ladies who will no doubt throw themselves at me on Soi 6 and Walking St. I'm sure they want me for my good looks and not my money. ![]() |

Yes. I will go out on a "normal" night but tonight the slow learners are trying for their Darwin Award and I don't need to be involved in the process. ![]() |

This will be my first New Years in Panama City. Plan is to be at a major hotel party. $22 includes champagne, buffet, live dancing salsa band and party favors. My Colombiana and I will be sitting with a group of Brazilians, and I expect to see plenty of Latina booty shaking all night long. I will hope to take a few photos and if any appropriate, may share here on CRT. Report to follow. And yes, I concur New Years seems geared to "couples". But if I wasnt hooked up, I would be at the new Guru Club where many of the singles will be. And Panama has plenty of taxis so we dont have to "drink and drive". I was invited to the Yacht Clubs "gringo" New Years bash of older couples (about my age)...but that just didnt feel right ![]() Happy New Years to you all... |

I have to agree 99% with what you are saying. Last year, it was $200 upfront for all you can drink, Lobster, music, champagne, the works....We also went to a bar after midnight. After getting all banged up, I realized I needed to get a cab home....Cab costs me $90. I figure with tips, I spent close to $400. Airfare to SJO is $269 right now. Think I will fly south instead and stay in tonight. There are 364 other days in the year. In case you are wondering about that 1% I can't agree with you on. March 17th. I gotta be out on this day....Just a tradition of mine. |

Why march 17 ![]() ![]() ![]() If i was in Panama or CR, someplace like that I'd be all for going out, but here, nah I gotta agree with Pac55, way too much RISK on the hwy. Stopped by the Walgreens and grabbed a bottle o crown royal (cause it came with free gift), the steak is finally settling in my tummy and its almost time for a belt. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! |

Completely agree with you all regarding NYE. Xmas holidays seem to lose alot of their magic once your K*ds get older as well. The holidays this time of year tend to depress me a little. I refuse to pay the outrageous airfares this time of year and missed out on seeing my Paisita novia, however I will be there in a little over 2.5 weeks. Best of wishes for a happy and healthy 2008 to everyone! Rainman3 |

Here in Texas if you refuse to take a breathalizer, they have a judge ready to issue a search warrant which results in an officer taking your blood to use as proof for your DWI. Also in my area, we have a DWI task force that works every weekend |

Here in Chicago. Just got off the phone with my son the cop who worked last night.....58 DWI arrests in his town last night (Schaumburg) I am sure that number was much higher in the City of Chicago I am sure the jails were full this morning, which is why I was at home with my 18 yr old Macallan Single Malt Scotch... |

Post subject: | Happy Holidays! |
Paco's useless holiday list. Let's just do away with these- ![]() New Year's- this is a calendar event not a holiday, what the big deal. Let it die along with Dick Clark. Martin Luther King Day- nice thought but do we really need to inconvenience everyone (me) by closing stores, banks and the post office? Groundhog Day- Why is this stupid pagan tradition on my calendar? Valentines Day- One of the most useless consumer-sucker holidays, I need to go spend MORE hopefully on the perfect gift to make her happy? Give us men a break, we already fail to live up to her expectations 364 days of the year. St. Patrick's Day- You want to celebrate and drink cheap green beer go to Ireland, it's nothing but March 17 on my calendar. Cinco de Mayo- You illegals want to celebrate and drink cheap beer go back to phucking Mexico, it's nothing but May 5 on my calendar. Flag Day- It's less than 3 weeks from July 4. Just combine them already so I don't have to put my flag up twice. Columbus Day- see MLK day Halloween- Actually used to enjoy but when did this K*D's holiday turn into an excuse for adults to spend billions every year to dress up like drunken fools? Christmas- No I don't want to do away with it but for Christ's sake (pun intended) the excessive advertising, shopping and spending is insane. Who in their right mind arrives at Wal-Mart at 4 AM to get trampled trying to get a deal on a video game? Let's scale things back to normal and relax for a change, idiots. The rest of the holidays I can live with- the ones that don't inconvenience me, cost me money or cause other people to act like morons. |
