Dancing....I like it! Especially all of the Latin dances. I have been practicing the Salsa and the Merengue here with the local Mexicanas.

Had a blast in KL and will look to find the hot dancer from my first trip in order to negoiate private lessons.

My CRLA school also offers free dance lessons that I will partake in.

Question: Is there some really good dance schools in the downtown area? Better yet, do you know of any hot locals that offer private dance lessons?

This is a great topic. It has been discussed many times before but is worth revisiting. So many guys talk about a "GFE" . If we want a nice night with a girl , we need to offer something besides cash. So many guys would enjoy dancing but have never tried and are a little embarrassed to try. Time for lessons . There is a great school with private lessons in Escazu also locations in San Pedro, Rohmoser and many others, Called Merecumbe . You can start with private lessons for 7k per hour then night group class for a lot less. This is a great answer to meeting non-working girls.

Merecumbe? The San Pedro location sounds like a possible winner !

Hey, CalifKen, if you are dragging me out dancing you better plan on a private dancer for lessons in the courtyard...

If I recall correctly...I think I saw a poster in the NYB that offered free lessons at the Balmoral Hotel on Thursday evenings and lessons Friday evenings at the Sportsmans

You must be a mind reader. I had a feeling you might have a crystal ball up there in the rain country.

Thanks for the info. I always have plans for the horizontal-bop on Friday nights.

Those lessons only lasted one week at the SL. There are schools everywhere. CK, I stronglt suggest a visit to Castros Disco, which has incredible dancing and is a nice well run place. It is a short cab ride west of the SL. Lots of locals, never any probelms and the crowd is more 25 to 40. Look me up, we go every couple of weeks.

I learned most of the Latin dances when living in Mexico in early 90s. I cant tell you how many times being able to dance in these clubs as a gringo has gotten me laid. Last night I was the oldest guy in the club for New Years I think...and I got a lot of nice smiles and nods from attractive strangers while dancing with my Colombiana. The Latins are truly shocked by gringos who can dance latin and speak some spanish. These two talents that can be learned will save you thousands in P4P down here. I heartily recommend learning and practicing Salsa and Merengue for socialization in Latin America. Plus...its great exercize...might add a few years to your healthy existance.

I may have mentioned this in other threads, but if you're going to be in the Jaco area, look into SalsaStar. Find'em on the Web at www.SalsaStar.com.

N. B. This is not a personal recommendation and I have no connection with the school--just a pointer.

Absolutely - I've let my Salsa lessons lapse a bit, but still find I can put some of what I learned to use in Key Largo and elsewhere, and it always makes for a fun evening.

Hey - maybe if we're lucky, "El Gordo" - the Key Largo legend - will begin offering lessons one of these days...

Pay a visit to El Tobogan. It's directly across the road from Motel Eden.
It sits way back off the Autopista so is hard to see. The place is huge.
Really good live Latin music on the weekends. The last time I was there on a Saturday night there must have been 300-400 people....ages 18-up. Lots of couples, but lots of single non-pros as well. If you find a gal you like and play your cards right, you can hop across the street to the motel for some horizontal mambo. Moderate conversational Spanish skills would help tremendously in picking up a gal.
