Miamitraveler,
While not a very popular topic, this past year there was a member who had some work done in CR, along with his wife. I don't remember exactly who it was, but I think it was Skynyrd. If someone remembers, please chime in here. I"m sure this member could give you some good insight.

Buena Suerte,
MG

I saw him the next day. There was some swelling and healing that needed to be done, but it looked like a job well done. PM Skynard....

I was talking to Denis the owner of The New Free Bird Hotel in San Jose last week, when I was in CR. He has some real scary stories about plastic surgery in Costa Rica. I would do alot of research before you pick a doctor, like the old staying goes You Get What You Pay For!

That doc sent a lady back to the states all infected/screwed up, near death, made 20-20 tv program--I think a liposuc; probably could have happened in the good ol Estados Unidos but that's the problem with tourism surgery--complications pop up but you are already gone. And, no tort system for malpractice in CR, at least not what would really compensate you.

Beware of their ads--alot of them say they are "Board Certified" by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons or whatever the name of the only major plastics board in the states, but if you check with that board, none--zero--of them in CR are board certified. They may be certified by one of the "no count" Bullshit American Boards or the plastics board in CR--I think they just pay an anuual fee-- but no where near the requirements to get certified by the American Board--forgot the exact name of it but if you do your due diligence, you'll find it. They will tell you over the phone if the guy is certified by them. 4 years ago none in CR.

I had some minor post-injury work done down there four years ago, very low risk, and it was cool. Had an OR in his building. I'll look for his name and re post. Across from Mas x Menos between downtown and Sabana if I remember right. He had an American nurse from CA who commuted like twice a month for his Americano days--worked out great. His daughter was taking over his practice--he was about 62.

Can some of you guys post some horror stories that you've heard? I would take it that Hospital Biblica should be pretty safe since its a hospital.

Rosenstock/ Liberman (www.cosmetic-cr.com) has advertised for years in the Tico Times. I don't know any thing about their reputation or their work. I would like to get a face lift next year myself. Paradise Cosmetic Inn and Spa advertise as an after care facility and list a US phone number 786 228-9148. I would give them a call and ask for recommendations (several doctors) and do some research regarding their certification.
