I have a good friend that must make a relocation decision between Panama City and San Jose. I need your help in advising him. To my knowledge, Panama City is larger, cleaner and has better roads. There are more activities, restaurants, etc. But Panama is hot and humid. San Jose has near perfect weather. As far as women, I have no knowledge of Panamanian women, but I would assume there are far more Colombianas in Panama City vs San Jose. Please chime in with any thoughts, comparison, etc. Your help is greatly appreciated. |

I have not spent a lot of time there, but I had a friend to run with that knows PC pretty well. Panama has nothing like Del Rey or Beetle Bar. Nothing like the gulch. There are numerous massage parlors. I sampled 3 of them, I don't remeber the names. More expensive (around $80 a throw), and also generally higher quality. Some amazingly hot chicks. It was good, but I like getting a little more for my money. |

There is only one way for him to make that decision. He has to do his due diligence and then make multiple trips to both locations, at various different seasonal times, to both destinations. Neither you or members of this board can make that decision for him as our built in prejudice for one location or the other will color our recommendation. Only he can truly make the decision that is best for him. |

Either that or live in both cities for awhile before moving any of his stuff and/or committing to either one. The two cities are a lot different. |

Sounded like the original post was directed at a suitable place for retirement. Medellin is often mentioned as a monger destination, certainly more than Panama City, but what about it makes it a candidate for retirement? Can you give us some insight why you think it is a place for a gringo to retire? What is the requirement for residency, how is health care, cost of living, etc. those things are more important when choosing a place to retire than beautiful women. |

My experience and opinion only, Panama City hands down. For retirement, living, working or tourist/mongering. It's a real city, clean modern, safe. There are dozens and dozens of great restuarants, casinos that compare to those in Atlantic City. City. Residents are much more sophisticated than those in SJO. US dollar is official currency. Up to 20 yr. tax abatement. Pensianado retirement benefits blow away anything in CR. Johns Hopkins medical center. Cheaper standard of living. Exponentially better infrastructure. Can walk large swaths of city at night. Much more to do. Much better and easier financing. Cooler climate in SJO, but hard to enjoy when city is such a dump. if you want cooler in PTY you can live in Cerro Azul, 40 min. from the city. No comparison between the 2 in banking or professionalism in Real Estate. Very important to me, Panama City has alot of really nice pools around that you can swim and relax at and nicer beach areas outside the city than I've seen in CR. On the monger side, a little more costly than San Jose, lunchtime special at Oasis for $50 is best value in town for top notch talent. Much better in qauntitiy of really hot girls than SJO. Girls not as spoiled from contact with needy gringos. No better selection of hot chicas than Golden Time, $84 an hour in house. No stripclub more fun than Club Miami. No comparison in terms of picking up and availability of non pros. No where in Costa Rica like Calle Uruguay. Bodegita is what the Del Rey would be if you got rid of all the ugly girls and quadrupled or more the good looking ones. Nowhere in CR like Mystic, Moods or Sahara where you can find so many hot pro's and non-pros in the same place. |

How much for airport PTY's taxi service into town? How long of a drive to Golden Times from airport? Is there a service like interbus there? Will PTY have good stock of chicas early to mid Dec10th to 18th? |

Are all these businesses walking distance to from each other? What the average cost at these places rooms onsite? Are most the chicas Columbians? Bodegita can compare with the Del Rey? Mystic, Moods and Sahara are regular bars/clubs. They are in an area called Calle Uruguay which probably has close to 30 restuarants and clubs. After 11 or so every night the area is packed and people walk from club to club. Those 3 mentioned get alot people and there are quite a few pro mixed in. Mystic for example is full blown disco. Typically the left side of the club is Panamanian and civilians and the right side of the club is Colombian and largerly pro chica's. Lots of hotties. No rooms on site as they are regular venues. Prices at these places are negotiable, start at a hundred and then it's up to you. Bodegita is much smaller than the Del Rey, but almost all the girls are very hot. They also often aren't the hard core huslter types you get in the top tier type in Del Rey. |

Jsmythe23, Great info and thanks! Retirement is still a ways off for me, but insofar as Costa Rica is concerned, the blinders have come off. I'm going to be making a point of exploring all the OTHER options in Latin America over the next few years, and hope in the meantime they too don't become overrun with gringos.... So everybody else - just keep crowing about how great CR is. It may yet become Tijuana South, if it isn't already... ![]() |
