I don't smoke cigars, or anything else... but honestly, I have to scratch my head on this one. Say WHAT? I, personally, will enjoy the (relatively) smoke-free atmosphere, but I see so many guys who love to puff their puros there that I wonder if they aren't shooting themselves in the foot. Part of the allure of Costa Rica is that you can do things you can't do in the USA. Gamble, buy poosey, and blow cigar smoke (or cigarette smoke, if you are a lightweight) in any body's face.

Oh by the way, I was in the Monkey Bar tonight and it was wonderfully quiet. Apparently the jukebox has been broken down for the last month. I'll have to show my support by visiting a few times until they fix it.

Speaking of Monica Lewinsky...she turned 31 this week. can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday that she was crawling around the White House on her hands and knees and putting everything in her MOUTH.They sure grow up fast, don't they?

By the way, I believe the "no ciger smoking" signs are for the outer lobby area "only". I'm not sure if the change affects the entire place.

I won't shed any tears over the loss of a smoke-filled environment.
I have had some nasty sore throats after a couple nights in the Del Rey.

I wish they would ban cigarettes too.

Some cigars smell worse than shit. I'm not joking either.

Last night was pretty grim in the gulch. Went first to the Key Largo and it was wall to wall... men. There were chicas there, for sure, but they were outnumbered by guys. Then we decided to take a walk through the Rey, and to my amazement, at 12:20 on a Saturday night, the lobby bar was almost completely deserted (of men). My only guess is that the new smoking ban is taking effect nicely. If I am correct, I forsee a quick change of policy.

Last night was pretty miserable in general. I'm not sure why but everywhere we went, except VIPS #1, was overstocked with males and understocked with females. Even the Molino Rojo!!! Luckily, living here, I don't worry about it. There's always tomorrow (today). My condolences to the visitors, though.

Shouldn’t this be in the “Talk about a whiney American” thread?
