It would appear you have not done any research other than having an idea (I would substitute dream as the operative word) and have not a clue as to how to proceed. You would be well advised, in my opinion, to do some thinking, research and investigation before going one step further. A good start would be to have a long chat with Jimmy at Shannon's restaurant. He can give you some first hand info on dealing with the municipal authorities. Good luck |

You were doing fine up until this point. Want to know how to make a million dollars in Costa Rica? Come to Costa Rica with two million to invest, give it a year or so and you have a good chance of having a million dollars left. I am sure you won't have any trouble finding a partner as long as you are the one suppling the money. Better questions for you to answer first: why Costa Rica? why a sports bar? what market do you expect to appeal to? From your questions, it almost seems like you expected the members of CRT to do a business plan here on a bulletin board. I am not sure that is a good place to start my friend. Good luck to you. |

Ever wonder which came first the chicken or the egg? Could go either way but if anyone ever wondered which came first the "stupid AZZ comments" or the stupid ass question there is no doubt. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just make sure and triple your cost estimate: Once to pay for all the permitting and bribes, twice because you are not Tico (are you?) and have to pay foreigners material prices and the 3rd time for all the ensuing legal battles. Hope it works out and at not 3X the "tico" cost. Buenas suerte! |

You got to be careful when you ask a question on this board ,it is almost like they are forbidden. No matter what the question is you got the same 3 or 4 guys that jump in and and start bashing. Some of these guys are just to negative. My take is if you you have nothing to add then add nothing . that whole read the Phucknig fourm or do the research bull is getting lame .We are here to share information. ![]() FLAME ON ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Fair enough, but brother there are a lot of complexities to just living in a foreign country, much less starting a business. I spent two years researching before I took the plunge on starting a business here and I am still finding my way a year after that. Your question is so broad that it is impossible to answer on this board, thus the smart ass comments. |

Yes the question is a bit broad, but perhaps we should answer it with that type of response... and be helpful... |

Tell you what. I'm personally dubious about viability here (I'm suspecting this topic may be generated by alcohol and our common-interest in the "what if" and the "if only"), but I'm a us attorney looking for a reason to have to visit CR regularly, and I suspect I'm not alone. Anyway, why NOT turn this thread into an actual discussion? Seems to me that we have the right skill sets present, and I for one am losing interest in Pamela's sunglasses and/or the art of ball-shaving. We're smart, and we've got a connection. Why not make sone money while we pursue this interest? I'll set up an LLC for you in the states if someone local helps you navigate the municipal propino maze. Why not? Just a thought. |

![]() FLAME ON ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() it is really easy to click on that search button and find all the information that I just did several searches on. I found information a bar who is closed down every few weeks because of permitting issues and a new casino who is several months and 10's - 100's of thousands of dollars behind schedule due to slow ticos and problems getting supplies. if I can take a few minutes to search on the information that this gentleman is looking for, then you would think that he could take the time to do a search for a $1 Million investment that he is considering! |
