Does Costa Rica use the same kind of electrical sockets as the U.S. and have 110 current? Or do I have to buy an adapter/converter to use my chargers and small electrical items in SJO? |

CR has 110V ac current. The outlets are a slightly different style than in the US but accept standard US plugs. If your appliances have a ground prong you will need one of those 3 to 2 adapters. |

Don't the new wing rooms at Sportsmens have the 3-prong outlets? I know my apartment does. |

Actuall, Yes, the new wing does have the 3 prong outlets, the style is different and accepts the US 3 prong plugs. I have used them in All the rooms so far. You will find the 2 prong outlets in bar, courtyard, and "old" rooms in the courtyard area and "house" area. The new "Mansion" area will have the new 3 prong outlets as well. |

I retract my earlier statement, although I stayed in Ilusion and El Rey my last two trips and did not notice. The outlet by the bed were 2 pronged sockets |

They are deceiving looking as well. I thought at first they were only 2 prongs and used my European adaptors. Then later to find they will take the 3 prong, but only 1 way, with the ground prong down. |

The Presidente has 3-prong plugs, so does the Del Rey. I've always been able to plug in my laptop's cord with no problem. |
