Google the words "Azerus" and "Torrent" and all of your questions will be answered. Alternatively, ebay usually sales the spanish 1 comprehensive for about $100 or less If you look hard enough. |

Counte Dante: No insult intended, but I'd like to offer my opinion that Bittorrent and Azureus and [insert any other popular P2P program, aka bearshare, rapidshare, emule, edonkey, etc] can be VERY dangerous in the wrong hands. It is SO easy to slip in malicious code to any download you get that those systems are practically bot-net creators on the cheap for [now] pay-pirates who do nothing but scam personal data, take over your computer, and generally make hell for you. What I mean to say is that -- yes, you can get some awesome goods with these systems. But the risk of you picking up something you cannot rid yourself of is very, very high. And I say that with the knowledge of a mongerer who avoids Parque Morazon except to practice my boxing skills. PLEASE don't use ANY of these programs unless you're VERY skilled at the computer and can determine what is spyware, malware and what conditions those represent in the files you get/trade/offer/search for. It's just too risky, in my opinion. While you CAN format the computer to rid yourself of stuff, why go through the hassle? Generally, I can say with DEFINITIVE knowledge, that what you seek are NEWSGROUP offerings. PM me and I can elaborate. Let's just call it the little secret of the internet, going strong since 1979 and still trucking. Put another way, for $9.95 (some are cheaper, some are more expensive) and some study time, you can setup a system where you can have your PC look for something specific, and when it finds it, alert and/or download it. TV shows, old movies, pretty much damned near anything. I've managed to fill up a 400GB hard drive in less than a 6 month period, and I wasn't even looking/searching hard. Phew. Time for that exa-byte upgrade. |

Guys, Check your PM's. Any other CRT VIP's that need either Pim Spanish 1 or Portuguese 1 and 2 just PM me as well. No need to join any special download or P2P site or risk mistakenly downloading some unwanted nasties from some unknown source while downloading the Pim lessons. |

I too will have my laptop for the Labor Day festivities and can burn Pimsuler Spanish 1-2-3 and Spanish Extra in addition to Rosetta Stoner 1-2 during the upcoming weekend festivities. Or just copy it to a high-capacity USB storage device. Feel free to PM me... |

Last year I put 20 copies, on CD, of all 3 levels of the course, lessons 1 through 90, in the closet behind the front desk at the SL. If you ask Johanna she should remember. I was there in Feburary and there were still a few copies left. Have at it... Madhatter |

ZeBraWon, No offence taken. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is technically aware enough to take the proper procautions. I tend to download azerus directly from sourceforge, and take other procautions. I've thought about get my system set up to download binaries from newsgroups, but since the only thing I download are Pimsleur courses (yes, I'm a big language geek ![]() |

Zebra, you may have just been lucky or else already have set up your computer to screen out or eliminate unwanted nasties, but I happen to know one is just as vulnerable to those sorts of things through newsgroups too. Like anything else, there are ways to reduce one's risk of downloading something beyond just what you really want whether on nesgroups or P2P, but ultimately some risk is still there whenever you're essentially downloading anything on to your computer from a source you don't really know. You're right in one respect. It is very much like deciding whether to walk through Morazon Park (or get a BBBJ), a calculated risk that some people are willing to take and others aren't. The difference here is that there is no need to take any risk of relying on any unknown source, since there are sources within the CRT family for getting copies of this material. |

I ordered and recieved PIMSLEUR quick and simple spanish for $19 from Amazon.com. 4 CDS with 2 lessons on each. Each lesson about 1/2 hr. Great intro to spanish and would help a newbie's 1st trip. It comes with a $50 off comprehensive level 1 if you desire to learn more. |

Not only that but it is the LEGAL way to get it rather than practice intellectual property theft or copyright infringement. Good for you.

Darn Prolio...didn't have to step on my toes so hard did ya ![]() ![]() But having been a photographer, I totally understand that kind of stuff. Unfortunatly, it's pretty much a norm now days. I know my novia buys first-run movies (and some that are still in the theatre) for $3! However, my take on it is a hatred of big business. They charge some outrageous prices for some things that just shouldn't have that kinda price tag. If Pimsuler would have offered a download (no production cost, tiny bandwidth costs) I'd have probably broke down and payed for them. But for their entire package with CDs and stuff...just way outa my price range. As for internet security, I use newsgroups but use the HTML interface that is tied to my Norton. I think anyone downloading anything off the net without at least some kind of anti-virus/worm software is begging for trouble. |
