RACSA Chooses Alvarion's WiMAX Solution Inside Costa Rica The Radiografica Costarricense S.A. - Costa Rica's internet provider - has chosen Alvarion Ltd., the world's leading provider of WiMAX and wireless broadband solutions, to provide extended wireless access services to business and residential customers in several major cities in Costa Rica. Coasin is Alvarion's local partner for this deployment project. Using the award-winning BreezeMAXTM platform as its radio access network (RAN), Alvarion's 4Motion solution operates at 3.5 GHz and allows RACSA to offer reliable, high-speed voice and data services to Costa Rica's urban and rural areas. 4Motion is the foundation of Alvarion's all-IP OPENTM WiMAX ecosystem, which combines BreezeMAX and best of breed systems for creating an operator-centric network solution for WiMAX. RACSA says it chose Alvarion for its well-known WiMAX expertise and rapid time-to-market advantage, enabled by the availability of the 4Motion. With this successful network deployment, subscribers are now able to connect easily and quickly, benefiting from high-quality service in both dense and very remote areas. |

MG Do you have any info about using cellular phone companies in CR via WWAN connection for laptops? I currently am using Verizon here in the states (I dont think the technology is compatible in CR). While it is the case that most hotels have wifi, it sure would be nice to be able to have the flexibility that wiwan connections allow, while enjoying the many pleasures of CR ![]() |

BB, I wouldn't even know where to begin. There's so much info on this site regarding communications in CR, i.e., Wi-Fi, Skype, VOIP, Cellular, etc... When I'm in CR, I don't call home or office very often. But when I do, I usually just use the phone in my hotel room. But there are much cheaper alternatives out there. Search around, and you'll probably find the info that you're looking for. MG ![]() |

MG, The wi-wan deal I was speaking of is a device that you plug into your laptop, essentially making a hi-speed connection via cell phone signals. It is a very coneniant technology,, not blistering speeds mind you, but quite usable. I would be tickled to no end to have this connection ability worldwide... I think my ignorance and poor research abilities have precipitated my current state of wonderment, and subsequent inquiry to you??? ![]() I know that the laptop, for me at least, has become a very valuable tool in all aspects of life. The ability to just fire it up, wherever I may be has seemingly shrunk the confusion over many a circumstance. If you knew all of this already and my ineptitude (highly likely) on the subject matter you posted renders my post redundant,, I say:oops ![]() |
