The Fuerza Publica police officers have just been awarded a raise in pay of 8000 colones or $15.39/MONTH. This brings a Teniente De Policia (a higher grade of officer) up to 172,500 colones or $332/month. So now we can understand why they could give a shit less about the muggings of RICH Gringos in the Gultch. Page 3 www.amcostarica.com today. It doesn't seem to me that SJ is a particularly dangerous place to be a cop, compared to many other places. I'm sure we could all name cities that are much tougher on leo. But for a cop there's always an element of danger, regardless of where you are. I have great respect for honest cops...it's not a job I'd want in any place. Niko |
