Anybody meet this black guy who brings people to massage places? I saw this guy and he was standing outside zona blue. I think he gets paid to bring people to massage places and bars. I later seen him walking near cha cha's. On a later trip I saw him at IDEM and he offered his hand to me. I didn't even know him and he didn't bring me to IDEM. I saw him sitting with this guy and the guy was buying him drinks. He sounds like an American.

There are tons of these guys around. They will stop gringos, usually in front of their hotel or DR, and offer to show them the massage parlors. I heard gringos giving these guys up to 5,000¢ or more for their services. I'm sure he goes in with them and tries to get a commission as well. Guys on this site have no need for their "services", but uninformed, newbie gringos just off the plane may.

I have many problems with them. They are too lazy to work, so they try to make a fast buck, that's cool. The only problem I have with them is that they keep following and bothering you even after you decline their offer.

I know who you are talking about. He is from the United states but lives here now. He gave me that info unsolicited. I was in Idem and the guy kept bothering me. I was nice for an inordinate period of time and then had to make a threat to get him away. He does not seem mentally stable. The threat of physical harm seemed to cause a quick attitude adjustment on his part.

When in San Jose last month several individuals would approach us on the street and ask where we wanted to go. "Massage parlor?" they would ask. We would either say no thank you or just keep walking. Just followed the advice- behave like you would in a U.S. city. With the info we brought off this site (maps, pricing, etc) we did not need any guides for the gulch. I guess I should say thanks, CRT. 8)

An older, short gentleman in a dress shirt approached me in Morazan park and asked me if I was heading to NF for a massage. I laughed, said si and kept walking, He quickly caught up, handed me an NF card & explained that if he went with me they would give him a commission and he needed some colones for food. I asked if it would cost me any more than usual and he said absolutely not. Normally I tell these guys to go away but he was a pleasant old chap just looking to make a buck and enjoyable to talk to so I said sure let's go amigo. We walked in together and he went to the desk while I went to check out the girls, I picked one and he was sitting in the waiting area and said gracias, and thats the last I saw of him. Not sure how they could really scam you unless you're a dumbass newbie.

Paco- my wingman who got scammed in Cancun (there by himself on business) was looking for mongering opportunities. Some guy approached him on the street. They had their conversation and the hustler took him in a taxi to another part of town, led him to a motel where there were chicas in the lobby, told him to go to a room there and wait. I think my pal gave him $50 bucks or so for the room for an hour and supposedly the chica....after 45 minutes of waiting in the room and no chica he walked out and the place was deserted.
He did not do his due dilligence (what I call my time perusing this board) and thus got scammed. So I suppose you, sir, are correct. :P

Mia2Ewr no offense I was referring to the guys around the gulch that pass out NF cards like the one I met. Obviously they get a commission like taxi drivers and and someone that doesn't know the deal could get scammed by being taken to the ripoff places that pay the highest commission like some of the strip clubs. Orange mentioned gringos paying these guys 5k for their "services", I guess if they show some newbies around to the MPs that is a service worth something.

Sorry M2E, but your friend lacks basic common sense, or maybe he was just really horny. IMO he is very lucky to be breathing.

YOU NEVER GET INTO A CAR WITH A STRANGER, ESPECIALLY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!!! (OBVIOUSLY OFFICIAL TAXIS EXCLUDED)

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine in Cabo. It's amazing at the stupid decisions we can sometimes make when we've got a hard-on! Lesson learned: Decisions that could affect our well-being should not be made while sporting wood... :P

YO Paco:

Damn man, you've got to quit trolling for men in dresses or dress shirts in M park. Did LHeat put you up to this. BTW, I think I had that same hombre approach me also....did he have a mustache? This fellow was also short, average weight and humble like.
