I've been lurking for a few months, just got my VIP membership in preparation for my first trip. Its a bachelor party, 5 guys, Thurs-Monday. Flights are booked, and getting ready to do hotels. My dilema...
We want to fish, and the wife-to-be and significant others assume thats the nature of the trip. I did research on Jaco and was thinking of spending the first two nights there, then the last 3 days in SJ. Would you do that on your first trip, or is it too much traveling? Are there closer places than Jaco to go do good fishing?

My other question is about hotel rooms...how typical is it to get a girl to spend the night? They are working, so I'd assume that they're not going to spend the night unless its very lucrative for them. I don't have a problem getting a room for each guy, but if getting a suite with 2 beds or several bedrooms works, then I'll do that.

First of all, congrats on joining VIP and on your choice of dates for your first trip. You can't really beat Labor Day with the CRT Party and everything else going on.

As for pulling a Jaco/San Jose combo in five days - really not bad at all. Jaco is only 2 1/2 hours away, and of course, there's plenty of action out there too. In fact, I also did Jaco and San Jose on my first ever trip.

As for TLNs - there's reams of info on here about that topic, but my advice as always is don't book it up front, but rather let it happen if the rapport is good. But as always, money talks, and if the price is right, just about any of the girls will stay the night. But in that scenario, I would choose very carefully.

Good luck and have a blast!

I have done Jaco as only a day trip and I can tell you that there is good fishing there. Like said it is 2.5 hrs away. And a beautifull ride. Coffee plantations, Great veiws.

If it is a first for you guys I would recommend you go to the center of it all and stay at the Hotel Del Rey. You will not have to go any where else and if you do then it is Downtown.

My two cents

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. One quick question...what does TLN stand for? I've searched on it and found it used a million times, but can't find a definition.

Toda La Noche - All nighter - Mucho Tiempo - Numerous pops - no more morning wood.....

Here's more abbreviations:

Good luck booking rooms at The Del Rey for Labor day.
You might have waited too long. I know Sportsman's is
booked up. Anywhere you stay is cool, your only a Taxi
away from the Del.

Thanks for the definition, and I got my rooms at Del Rey, just in the nic of time! I still need to book rooms in Jaco, and find a good fishing guide. Any recommendations? I was considering either the CopaCabana or the Cocal...I read about a few others, but haven't done much research on them yet. We just don't want to be too far from the BB, and want to avoid any bad parts of town...

Ksig25 welcome to the board.

Since you have become a VIP did you sign up for the Anniversary Party Sep. 2nd at the SL? It will be quite a bash I'm sure.

Only 135 able to attend, CRT VIP's only, and over half the amount is already taken. Look on the boards for more information. If the rest of our group has not signed up, the $39.00 will be saved many times over on your trip, and the party is not to be missed.

Congratulations to whom ever is making the big step.

Health & happiness

HDR had rooms left as of a week ago. I checked on rooms with two beds and they had both Deluxe ($110 plus tax) and Standard ($93 plus tax). I was tempted but want to check out Morozan cause I don't like the blackjack rules at HDR. And I would rather handle my business at ZB and, if inclined, NF.

Personally, I am a big fan of TLN. I just can't think of a better way to start the day then tag a fine tica ass.

However, there are a few pit falls.

First, you need to have a complete understanding of what TLN means before you leave with them. Even then, most will try to reduce the amount of time and service. Typically, the expectation is the TLN means you get to hit it twice, once when you get to the room and again before they leave. I have had resistance when I try to bang them 3 or 4 times in a night.

Also, be very specific about what time they intend to leave. This is almost always an issue. I have had some that consider 3 AM TLN, sorry but not in my book. Even when you agree on this in advance, it often becomes a point of contention. Consider writing it down on a piece of paper and keeping it with you as a reminder to them when they start with their inevitable bull shit.

DO NOT PAY IN FULL IN ADVANCE! Pay a deposit and the rest when you are done with them. Hold firm, some will whine and cry, but they will eventually give in if you stay strong on this point. Not a bad idea to discuss this before you leave as well.

One more thing, if you can find a pair for a TLN experience for a reasonable rate, go for it! If you want to hit it 3 or 4 times that is definitely the way to go and it is sure nice to have one snuggled up on either side of you.
