Hey Guys,

Its been a while since I've been around and I just wanted to know what the situation is with cell phones. If I remember rightly, last year T-Mobile did work. Is this still the case? Any idea if there is data available on any of the networks too?

Thanks in advance.

8) Good afternoon,
I am planning a trip in Oct/Nov and I also have a Cingular/ATT phone. I checked into the useage of the phone and was told if you have a triband phone which the newer ones are this or higher your Cingular/Att will work. Incomming calls were 28 cents a minutes and outgoing calls were $2.29 a minute. Texing was 25 cents a message I believe.
Thanks

$2.29 + TAXES & SURCHARGES!

Is it that important to use your own phone? It's $0.33/min using a pre-paid calling card.

If you have Cingular/ATT service you need to make sure you are signed up for the international calling plan which is $9.99 a month. I have never had a problem with my cell phone in Costa Rica. But I only use my cell for incoming calls, If I need to make a call back to the states I use my voice over internet service @ 8 cents a minute.

DDream,
Your Nextel cell phone worked in CR ??? How is this possible ?

I always make it a point to turn on my Nextel at least one time during my trips, and I have NEVER been able to get service. What part of CR were you in, where you got a signal on your Nextel ?

Mucho Gusto :?

I've rented a phone from Enrico for two years in a row. It gets hand delivered as far as I know to anywhere in the Gulch when you arrive and he arranges a pickup before you leave.

You can also get the phone number in advance of your trip should you need to share it with anyone. Here's the info;

Enrico Cacciatore
Cellular Telephone Rentals
San José, Costa Rica
506 399 9642 / 506 845 5800
cellulartelephonerentals.com

Not sure what the current plans or pricing are but the Enrico was a very nice guy and I would recommend him to anyone.
