In a couple of weeks Im back and CR and wanted to do some exploring.
What are the good places to go south of Quepos.
What is the best route, method of transport(taxi, bus, water taxi?) to Domical beach and the others down there.
Thanks in advance

Surftown,

Hwy 34 south of Quepos to Dominical is very rough, but $17 M has been earmarked for improving the 27 mile stretch. You can either drive or take one of two daily busses to Dominical and/or San Isidro. South of Dominical, the road is fine. The trip to Dominical will take about an hour and a half...and San Isidro is another 45 minutes due east.

Dominical has a very nice beach area, but be careful of the riptides. Not much mongering activity there, but plenty of college-age gringas. Punta Uvita, located just south of Dominical, is very scenic with idyllic spots along Parque Nacional Marina Belleza. If you drive further south to Palmar Norte, you will reach the Interamerican Hwy. Palmar Norte is pretty much dead, but you can see a number of the large granite spheres described in Costa Rican tourist guides.

I will add that if you are going to Dominical from the Central Valley, it is better to go through San Isadora than Quepos. The road from Quepos is really rough and it is a long slow drive.

Dominical is a surfers beach, not a swimmers beach because of the riptides mentioned above.

Personally, I was a bit dissapointed with Dominical/Uvita.

If you're down in the Dominical area then go a bit further south and check out Playa Ventanas. It's a fabulous beach.
