Just because sex tourism is big business in Costa Rica doesn't mean they won't change the laws.

Consider this: There once was a country where prostitution and brothels, alcohol, recreational drugs, and gambling were all legal. That country was America. Then along came this group called The Christian Women's Temperance Union. First; they got women the right to vote. Then they banned all those male sports. They even managed to get an amendment banning alcohol which lasted for a while, but was repealed in 99% of the country.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the laws in Costa Rica changed. I have talked to a few Ticos about it and there is a strong feeling among them that sex tourism has damaged the image and culture of the country.

If you look at the difference in readily available females between the 2 countries, you'll find that there are far more here in Costa Rica. Which means that the men making the laws here aren't as persuaded by them as they are in the US...they are driven by money instead.

If the US ponies up the cash to have them change the laws, they will, and have done so in the past. Don't for a second think that Latino males are brow beaten like the whipped dogs in the US, because machismo trumps women's rights.
